8/15/2004: Brewers (Davis) v. Marlins (Beckett)

1992casey

Game time: 1:05 PM CDT

TV: none

Radio: WTMJ-AM 620 and statewide radio network

Marlins: RHP Josh Beckett

  • 4-7, 4.33 ERA in 2004
  • First career appearance against Brewers

Brewers: LHP Doug Davis

  • 10-9, 3.84 ERA in 2004
  • First career appearance against Marlins

Previews:

I'm going to encourage this once again, even though a lefty isn't starting today.

Last night (AGAIN) Russ Branyan didn't start against a lefty pitcher, even though (as many have pointed out) his career track record is significantly better against lefties than righties.

I propose that we all submit e-mail questions to Jim Powell on the subject, and do it daily until he reads one of the questions on the air.

Hopefully he sees the question often enough to address it and maybe he'll get around to asking Ned Yost about it. It might also pay to start e-mailing others in the local press.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Podsednik

Hall

Overbay

Branyan

Jenkins

Clark

Moeller

Counsell

Davis

Hold on a second, where is Helms? Shouldn't he be hitting leadoff? But seriously, I like the lineup today. This is how the 3-4-5 should have been a long time ago. However, I would rather see Clark or Counsell leading off, and Hall batting 6th. Overall I like it.

Given some of the lineups we've seen, I like this one, too.

I'd probably switch Hall and Clark, but Bill's been doing well enough recently that I won't scream.

Ned gets a B+ today.

Just a note if you haven't seen the JDLR thread: Jorge has been optioned to Indy and Hendrickson is coming back.

Gee, Ben sure got a lot of regular work down there didn't he? Hindsight is 20/20, but even Doug has to admit that was a horrifically bungled bunch of moves the past couple weeks.

But welcome back Ben!

ja002h - They had Lo Duca's hit as a homer at first?

Yeah, for whatever reason. Tho it never was bold, so I was suspicious anyway.
