08/25/2004 - Brewers (Davis) @ Cubs (Maddux)

Vgmastr

Today's lineups brought to you by Rocketfuel Malt Liquor: "Wuzzup y'all! Nedley Yost representin' Rocketfuel Malt Liquor. It's got the mad flavor that takes any situation to the next level. Whether you're fillin' out the lineup card or just chillin' with your homies. So when the party starts bouncin', tighten up your flow with Rocketfuel!"

Seriously, what the hell is Ned on? No sane person could construct a lineup like this. I realize Overbay and Jenks are hurt, but why is Branyan 7th?

Game delayed, Uecker says they will be back at 1:55 pm CST. Anyone else hoping for a postponement?

Seriously, I don't understand why all the consternation on the lineup. Yost has to work with what he's got, unfortunately it's all crap right now. I can't fault him for throwing something together to try and shake things up, it looks to me like he's going to maybe hit and run and try to put some plays on. Is changing things up really a bad thing at this point?

Yost said on the pre-game show why not try something off the wall since the regular way was not working. He wanted speed all together so they can run and run. Maddux doesn't pay attention to the runners so why not try to throw him off. I for one hope they play the game to see if the 1-6 in the lineup can get on and run Maddux out of his game plan. Sounds fun during this miserable streak.

I just read on the Brewers site that Jenkins has been "bothered all season by tendinitis in his right wrist". Am I the only one that did not know this?

Well that explains the inability to lay off garbage pitches.

Oh wait, it doesn't.

Yeah, read that on I think Sat or Sunday on the website or the Journal Sentinal. Really pissed me off. My prediction on brewerfan said Jenkins would not go on the DL because now he's being payed to play games, not perform in them

Your right it doesn't. But it COULD explain the inability to:

- hit the ball

- hit the ball hard

- check your swing

- maintain confidence

I'm not saying it does...just that it could. I need a glimmer of hope...something....anything.

Are you refering to bonuses in his new contract based on games played? He isn't in his new contract yet, but I suppose there could be incentives in his 2005 (new deal) based on games in 2004 (old deal). Or maybe he is just practicing :)

some clarification on the lineup on the Brewers' webpage (LINK)

Apparently Jenkins also suffered another injury last night (that's three for him revealed in the past week), and Overbay strained his hamstring. Kind of makes me wish we had a healthy Kieschnick to throw at 1st while Branyan stays at 3b.
