Does it even matter anymore batman?

I guess not. I just hope they don't injure someone as a result of overuse. It would be really easy to just bring Travis Phelps back and let him eat up some junk innings.

The team blows and we will finish in last place again,i have a har time caring much anymore whether we win or lose.

Well I still care, right or wrong.

That was pretty disappointing. Dan Kolb only made one mistake, but he's just not as sharp as he was in the first half of the season. I'm afraid Team Canada's failure to deal him will be remembered as a big mistake... he's a good pitcher, but I don't think he'll ever pitch as well as he did this season.

It was good to see Victor Santos put together a nice start, though. I think many of us are sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop with regard to Vic, but everytime it looks like he's losing it he bounces back and shows great stuff. When he has his curveball, changeup, and splitter all working, he's lights-out.

Anyway, tough loss. Hopefully Dave Krynzel gets a start tomorrow... that would be sweet.

Gotta hand it to you,no question your a bigger fan than me.I love the Brewers, but the yearly nosedive usually does me in until some new kids show up to keep me interested.

I just cant sit and watch games anymore, bores me silly.I check in a few times a game, but thats pretty much my limit.Once i start watching games and dont even flinch as we choke another game,i know it's time for football for me.

Dan Kolb only made one mistake,

That's one more than closers can usually afford to make though.

But I agree about failing to deal him, and I've said so before. There was NO reason to keep him when the POINT of keeping him (and this is straight from Melvin's mouth) was to try to finish .500.

Poor decision making will get a team like the Brewers nowhere.

Yeah, I can certainly understand that. My intensity level is way down, obviously, so the impact of the wins and losses isn't as great, but I'm still in a better mood when they're winning than when they're losing.

Lately, that probably hasn't been a good thing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Thats why this franchise frustrates me so badly.I want to watch games late in the year just like a Packer game, all nervous and excited during games. When Wilson jacked that off Kolb,i just laughed, almost sensed it was coming. No yelling at the TV,no frustration, just a blank stare that said time to flip the channel.

I'm so envious of teams that at least are in contention most of the year on a regular basis. It's the same story year in year out, games that mean nothing by August or even earlier.I then gradually lose interest to the point of watching Discovery channel reruns instead of the Brewer game.

"I was happy to see Kolb blow the save. We can actually afford to sign him now."

I agree rl, if Sheets and Kolb blow really bad for the rest of the year, we may get our payroll below $20 mill. Actually, Sheets has at least one more option. I think we should send him back to AAA.

Hey, I'm just being realistic. You guys can go on and on about how the Brewers should sign Kolb to a 3 year $15 mil contract, but it's just not going to happen. The good news is, because of Kolb's recent struggles it doesn't need to happen.

I suppose if Kolb had been perfect all year and the Crew declined to pay him the $5 mil a year you would have complained that they weren't committed to the furture.

Closers are overated anyway. Now atleast the Brewers will be able to resign Kolb to something alot closer to his actual worth.

OK I've got to defend Ned on not starting Krynzel. Now I would have started him, just like I would have started Hart way back when he was up. But Ned has established a pretty clear pattern when a new player comes on board he tends to be a little conservative in evaluating them. Is this such a horrible thing? This small bit of defrence to guys already on the team probably helps him command some amount of respect and loyalty rather than the I'll start the flavor of the month player. I just don't see this particular pattern of behavior as a significant negative. A couple more ABs for David isn't going to turn him into a superstar next year.

Igor, I think you nailed it. He sticks with players longer than fans do because if he didn't he would be ripped by players and fans like Brenly is.

Some of these players will be here next year and will be counted on to help the team win. Yost is just trying to keep them on his side.

A day doesn't go by that we don't see the phrase small sample size refered to on this site. To Yost's credit, he doesn't pander to the small sample size. If he thinks a player is the best at a position in the field or in the batting order they are going to get a long leash to prove him wrong.

Will this trait turn ugly when the young players come up? It might. But if a player makes Yost believe he is the best player at that position, I think Yost will gladly give it to him.

I think the Branyan vs Helms thing was very telling and while everyone likes to call Helms and Brady his guys, in reality they are his guys as long as they are the best options in his mind.

If Dave gets a shot in centerfield and shows he is superior to Pods defensively, I think that will go a long way towards paving Dave's way onto the team and into the starting lineup. We all know who Melvin was refering to when he said 'some people value defense more'.

As for the comment about 'why haven't they brought up pitching help since the roster has expanded'. The Brewers have played one game with the expanded rosters, and anyone they would have brought up would have not been put into a game when it is on the line. I would rather have gas can Bennett pitching than anyone from AAA.

They have already brought up Pedro and I would expect that he will see more time in mop up along with Wise and that should push Burba to more of a setup role to help out Adams while he is struggling.

Next game I'm going to will be Sept 23, that way they will really be out of it and we can see even more indifference!

If I'm going and going to fork out the $, then they (the Franchise) needs to try to win each and every game. That seems to be the contract between team and fan.

That said, after they lost last night I just flipped over to the RNC convention and heaped more suffering upon myself.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
