9/02/04 - Brewers (Sheets) vs. Pirates (Williams)

If you would have told me at the all star break that it would take until September 2nd for Sheets to pick up win #10, i literally think i would have spit in your face. Unbelievable! Hopefully, he can finish off the year strong and finish with 13 wins.

What a great day at the ball park. Hardly anyone there but maybe the best day of the year weather wise. Sheets was great. My favorite inning was when he walked the first guy on 4 straight pitches, ball to the next hitter and he's out of the inning after 7 pitches.

I sat behind two Stockton CA brothers who had great Jaha, Sheffield stories who were traveling the country going to every stadium. They loved our stadium, beer and the brats. It was great to see fantastic baseball fans enjoying baseball for what it is.

This is the kind of series I really like to attend - small crowds, mainly diehards, room to stretch out (if you aren't in a seat-police section), the players can probably hear you even if you're up in the terrace.

But the first week of classes is just too hectic. I didn't even get to look at gameday until the game was over. Why can't the Brewers take a road trip this week every year?

And (looking ahead) why oh why is lil Wes listed as Friday's starter on the Brewers' webpage? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I didn't get the chance to watch or listen to today's game, but catching up I'm impressed by Sheets' line today. Despite his shaky outings the past month or so, he still has been one of the best pitchers in the NL all season long, and has proved that he is, or least can be, a true staff ace.

Have to agree with you hawing. I took the kids and a friend of their choice to the game. We did the subs/soda tailgate thing and then got in early enough to chat with Dave K. before the game and take advantage of the kids corner. Was disappointed Dave didn't play(good gracious is there a reason we couldn't have acclimated him to the field as a late inning defensive replacement with Sheets dealing and a four to six run lead). But, if you could "bottle" a day for baseball, it was yesterday. Like you said, I don't doubt the guys could hear us from the fourth level. It was like a weekday Snapper game in a larger stadium.
