9/7/2004: Brewers (Sheets) @ Pirates (Williams)

brettac1

Fresh off his first great start in a while, against the Pirates last Thursday, Sheeter takes it to 'em again in hopes of wrapping up this series for the Crew in 2 games. In his career against the Bucs, Sheets is 4-6 with an ERA of 3.23. He has K'd 70 men in 92 IP, allowed 94 hits (6 HR) and 21 BB with a BAA of .267. This season, in 4 starts (29 IP) against the Pirates, Sheets has an ERA of 3.41, and 26 K. Facing the Brewers is lefty Dave Williams (0-1, 8.71), whom Sheets defeated last week. In that game, Williams allowed 5 ER in 3.2 IP. In three career starts against the Crew, Williams is 2-1 with an ERA of 6.59 over 13.2 IP. Hall (1/2, HR, 3 RBI), Moeller (2/2), and Jenkins (2/4, 3B, RBI, BB) have had the most success against him. Should be easy pickins tonight for Big Ben and the boys, as they inch closer to 5th place. GO CREW!!!

I don't think it's a stretch, assuming Davis is good to go on Wed, that we could win the next 2. That would put us at 62-76 and in 5th place in the NL Central. It would also put us on pace for 72-74 wins, which I'd be happy with at this point.

Better than 56 wins I guess. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif

It seems like pitching (starting at least) has stabilized to near the level it was at before - and with Obermueller and Hendrickson pitching well lately - and the bats are coming to life thanks to the resurgence of Podsednik and Jenkins and the return of Ginter. I'm pulling for 76-86 myself, but anything over 70 would probably be gravy.

We've got the basic lineup out there tonight. The only different thing is Hall at 2b, Ginter at 3b. I guess I'd rather see Helms in there vs hte lefty, but I can't complain much. Hall has the ability to drive the ball. Still, it'd be nice to have a lineup full of stars
