09/24/2004 - Brewers (Obermueller) vs. Astros (Munro)

MassBrew

The entire second half is summed up by the fact that not only do the Brewers move the starting time of Fan Appreciation Day by several hours, but then double-whammy it by giving Wes Obermueller the start -- somebody do the math, how many Saturday home starts does Obie have this year? Half of all of the Saturday home dates?? It's pretty close!

In honor of our own version of Fan Appreciation Day, Brewerfan presents nice reminders to the emotional high point of the season (even if the technical high point at 41-34 was a week earlier):

Ahh, those were the days!

In my calculations, Obermueller has started 4 out of 12 Saturday home games this season. I'll work on calculating his stats real quick.

Here's the numbers breakdown:

5/1/2004 - Pittsburgh (ND): 3 IP, 5 H, 7 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, 1 HR

5/29/2004 - San Diego (W): 6 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 0 HR

6/19/2004 - Minnesota (ND): 5.1 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2 HR

8/21/2004 - Philadelphia (ND): 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 6 BB, 4 K, 0 HR

Final numbers:

1-0 record

19 1/3 IP, 14 ER = 6.52 ERA

1.91 WHIP

14 K / 13 BB

3 HR allowed

This doesn't really look like a promising trend, although he always sucks, the team always rallies to his support to get him off the hook.

It's a Krynzel sighting, too bad it's in RF.

He's always OK for the first 3-5 innings, then the wheels fall off. I'm smelling a ND for him today, then maybe a cameo by Ben Ford or Travis Phelps. Phelps is still there isn't he? When's the last time he pitched (not that I'm complaining)?

Yep, thanks Madison FOX, I really haven't gotten to see enough Cubs games this year on Saturday afternnons. What a load of crap.
"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

David Krynzel turns his first big league walk (in his 27th big league AB) into a run by scoring from first on a single!

Nothing against Brady Clark and his high ankle sprain, but except for Sunday (Chris Magruder will start), we should see plenty of Dave next week.

That's Daron on the FOX broadcast. Just as much screwy info but a lot less hiper. It's an improvement but he still sucks IMO.

It took me about the first two outs of the first to catch that. I was talking about the guy calling the game with him. Even though he can't be a homer on the national broadcast, I know Daron would never say that about Ben.

Great quote from Munro:

Quote:
``This could be the season,'' Houston starter Pete Munro said. ``It's a tough loss to take. We just ran into the wrong team at the wrong time.''

Seems lately us Brewer fans have been saying we've been watching the wrong team at the wrong time, so it's nice to destroy the 'Stros hopes two years in a row.
