Thanks for the updates, guys -- I think http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Definitely need to go to two separate threads for the next split-squad.

What a treat to be able to play the archive tonight and listen to the Fielder HR in the first -- the Mariner broadcast crew is still gasping for air!

Geez man...some of you guys need some fresh air...me included. Way too many of us are posting opinions about what a player is going to do after one or two games (for pitchers) and 5-7 games for hitters. I've been trying to be patient for the last couple days, but I can't take it anymore!!! Experienced posters and greenhorns alike, please take note...stop judging players right now. Wait until at least tomorrow, so the sample size will grow that much bigger. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif There, I've said it...and now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Take me out to the blood bank, take me out of the rotation! Buy me some pitchers with consistency, I don't care if they've got lepracy. So let's shoot another 4A player, if they don't cry it's a shame...for it's one, two, three cuts your out in spring tray-ning!!! Hey!!!

Just made that up guys...Loopee, I'm getting the feeling that we think a bunch alike...and, you get a writing credit for it.

Seriously now folks, I can't believe I'm coming to Victor Santos' defense, but I am. For those who are bashing him, please bear in mind that he's REAL rusty right now. Fatigue and blisters from July(?) on and not pitching winter ball for the first time in who knows how long is a lot change for a guy.

I don't care if you're making pizzas for a living, if you haven't done it the way you want to for a while and take time off it's gonna take a while to get the feel back. I tend to agree with those who mentioned that he more than likely is throwing #1 as much as possible in an effort to get comfortable. That's why it really upsets me so when people say after one or two outings that this guy or that guy is a washout or is the 2nd coming.

Heck, I think most of y'all and I'd be able to hit consistently off Santos right now for that reason.

It's going to be mid-March at the earliest before these guys stretch their arms out. Give 'em a break.

Every spring you have a plethora of people who are drawing conclusions on 2 innings for a pitcher, or 9 at bats for a hitter.

It might be wrong, but it's always that way, and I imagine it always will be.

Too bad Jose Fernandez doesn't stick out in people's minds more. THat would prove how truly WORTHLESS spring training statistics really are.

I was at the Brewers-M's game, and here's my thoughts (didn't bring a pad and pen this time):

-Fielder crushed that ball. Nobody saw it once it left the bat, and it missed a person's head by about a foot.

-Hart hit two deep outs just shy of the track. Seemed like he handled breaking pitches and slower fastballs, but struggled with hard ones

-Hardy looked great at the plate. Stands like Cirillo. His double to right center was great. As was his single to left

-Capellan couldn't throw his fastball for strikes, but his offspeed pitches looked good.

-Hendrickson threw everything for strikes today--much better than last time.

-Narron was beaten by some nibbling. Walked a guy on a close one, then 2 singles and a double.

-Cruz looks on the prowl when he's at bat.

-Great defense by Hardy. He turned at least 2 hits into outs, and also kept several other crucial ones on the infield.

-Brewers were aided by horrible seattle defense. Kiesch's double should have been a routine catch.

-Mannon looks like Magruder. Heck, he looks better than Magruder.

-Heether with a nice rip up the middle...I'm gonna get off his back.

-Moss looks like Ginter at the plate

-also, Capellan looks like a young Colon. Workhorse body.

-JJ will do well this year. He's fundamentally sound, as evidenced by his fundamental approach at the plate. He had a runner on third with less than two outs, stepped up and put the bat on the ball with a chopper scoring the runner.

-Kynzel and Spivey failed in moving runners over. Hardy leads off with a double. All Krynzel has to do is make contact and Hardy gets to 3rd. But he and Spivey strike out. Go from 2nd with nobody out to 2nd and 2 outs. Terrible execution

Quote:
Anyone who was listening, do you know how Rottino made the error in RF?

He dropped, what sounded like, an easy popup behind 2nd base. Unfortunately, the bases were loaded with 2 outs, so all 3 runs came in to score.

So our undefeated record for 2005 ST is gone. The crew's individual performances are still noteworthy, however.

11,700 views for a split-squad spring training thread. Hopefully the interest in the Brewers keeps building.

Good luck to El Caballo, his wife and his new baby, as well. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
