03/09/05 - Rockies (Kennedy) @ Brewers (Capuano), 2:00 CT

What would be cooler is if they offered every spring training game on WTMJ, and an occasional TV game as well. Now that would be something. By the way, I am not cheap, I am just planning on buying the Baseball TV coverage for the season.

Wasn't there a post somewhere on this forum that said that after the initial announcement was made, a decision was made to make the games free?

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Here's the scoop on pricing as told to me (not literally) by Adam McCalvy of MLB.com -- my summary follows:

Initially, like with the other clubs in MLB, any Brewer spring games would be "free" only with the purchase of the regular/post season audio package, as mentioned above.

That was a point of contention for people like Adam and Daron Sutton and the Brewers' broadcasting people -- they all spoke up enough that it was determined that the Brewer webcasts will, in fact, be available for free to all. The whole idea is to promote the team and promote MLB.com's regular season audio package, so it was ridiculous that anyone even considered charging for the spring games with this "hidden" cost.

For instance, I was able to pull up today's Brewer archive of the Mariner game without having to log-in to the MLB.com service. To pull up the A's feed of their webcast, I did have to sign in with my subscription password.

So indeed the Brewers stepped up in this regard this spring, all to our benefit. Thanks, guys.

C'mon fellas, it's $14.95 for an entire year's worth of audio.

I agree it is cheap, but the only games I don't get free from WTMJ are during ST. So for me it's $14.95 for a less then a month. They could at least price it by team.

They should use spring training to get the masses hooked and interested in listening to other teams.

I have no desire to listen to other team's games during the regular season so paying $15 for a month of Spring Training games is ridiculous.

There is no reason why Spring Training webcasts are not available to the general public.

I would do this in a second if it were attributable by team. When fox realizes that the Brewers are starting to draw a better TV audience two things will happen.

1. More games will be televised, which leads to a minor incease in revenue for each extra game.

2. The Brewers have more leverage to get a better media contract next year.

Unfortunately it's hard to tell who's buying the MLB audio package for what team.

Would someone being willing to give out there password? Or is it tied to an account where people could mess around with things?

I would pony up the $15 but I will be moving soon and computer access will be cut for a good portion of the summer.

Send Wes Helms to AAA. Why even put him as backup. Spring should be easier considering he's not facing top notch quality. Cirillo should be on the team over Helms. I think fans would be ecstatic to see him back in a Brewers uniform including me since besides Jenkins he's my favorite player. I don't anyone besides the local Krispy Kremes would shed a tear if Wes Helms began at AAA.

I think I was probably the start of all this "free" talk because before the first spring training game I said something to the effect of, "I just clicked on the link and it didn't ask for my login info, so I guess the Brewers broadcasts were free." That broadcast was free as well as a few others, and I don't know why, but I was the first one to mention the word "free."

Oh, and Brady Clark just made a great catch.
