I would say all signs point to no free broadcast today. The first couple of games in spring training the window would pop up and either have the game on or the media player would state "The audio you requested has not started yet." Yesterday, like others, I got the log in/pay area. Today, I'm getting the log in/pay area again. Maybe the days of free baseball are gone again....

I will try again as game time gets closer.

I'm getting the subscription message as well.
"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

Here's the deal on the audio. I called MLB customer service a few minutes ago. The bottom line is the games aren't free. You have to have a paid account which includes audio.

Those of us who were getting games last year are receiving them because our subscriptions don't expire until March 31st. We'll also be out of luck?unless we renew?when the April spring training games roll around.

This would also explain why people had trouble getting games last weekend via WTMJ's web site. If it's a pay service, WTMJ broadcasts would be blacked out.

This is MLB's current promotion: people who sign up now won't be billed for 60 days. However, there is no discount. Normally, people are billed after 30 days.

In the past, MLB has offered an option to pay for one day of service. That will return, but it's not being offered right now.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Someone shoud ask Darron about it!

I did yesterday, but I don't know if he answered it. In fact, I have no way of knowing unless someone who paid for free radio heard the answer.

How did we get free audio for the first few games??? I've never paid for a subscription.

I got the first two games for free, and I have never paid for anything before. Also, the Brewers were promoting this like crazy that fans would be able to listen for free to every spring training game this year. This is a black mark on the organization in my book. Empty promises!!

That's a good question that I didn't ask.

Here's MLB.com's customer service number: 866-800-1275

And here's Daron's e-mail (he's been giving it out during games): brewcrewtv@aol.com

Okay, I found this old Press Release on the brewers website. In their defense, they never said the games would be free:

"The Milwaukee Brewers will audio webcast 19 Cactus League games from Arizona on www.milwaukeebrewers.com, a first in team history, it was announced today by Executive Vice President - Business Operations, Rick Schlesinger.

Starting with the Brewers Cactus League opener on March 4 against the Seattle Mariners, Brewers television voice Daron Sutton will bring all of the exciting Cactus League action to fans around the world. He will be joined by his television broadcast partner, Bill Schroeder, for part of the schedule as well as special guests throughout the spring.

Fans will be able hear the games by going to the Brewers website where they can click on the link that will be provided. This will mark the first time in team history that the Brewers have offered spring training games over the web.

"By webcasting the games, we will be able to provide Brewers fans everywhere with the most up-to-date information on the club as it develops in spring training," said Schlesinger. "This is the first time in Brewers history that this service will be available and we are excited to be able to offer it to our fans."

The Brewers are one of four teams that will webcast spring games in 2005 joining the Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays.

In addition to the webcast schedule, the Brewers will also be heard on over-the-air radio on WTMJ (620 AM) and the statewide radio network for nine spring training games with Bob Uecker and Jim Powell calling the action."

Spring Training should be free!!

Addendum:

MLB.com's customer service hours are currently 8 AM-5 PM, Monday-Friday. The hours will expand during the regular season.

Maybe the brewer office management are complete idiots. And this is the last thing I'll say about radio. I'm not paying $15 for something I get free living in wisconsin, but if you advertise spring training games for free*** on the net, then DA@N IT you should make sure it's working. Fan meet the Shaft. I'm so tired by being hosed by office management.

***EDIT......I could of swore we were all talking about the games were on the air for free. If I didn't understand the original concept, I apologize to the office idiots.

*******EDIT #2.....No, they are idiots!!

C'mon fellas, it's $14.95 for an entire year's worth of audio.
And even with XM, I know I'll end up renewing it eventually. It doesn't take a lot of listening for that service to pay for itself.

I have no clue why you guys thought it would be free. Its never been free to listen to any game. Who cares if its spring training, if you want to listen you have to pay. Like they said on the website, you never even had the option to pay for it before.
