Since the Brewers aren't going to contend this year, what's the rush to start his arby clock?

I hate that mindset. I'm sorry, but that stinks.

We don't need some magical start date for all of our prospects. Is it really feasible to just one day pencil in:

Krynzel CF

Weeks 2B

Hart RF

Fielder 1B

Nelson LF

Hardy SS

I mean, we can bring these guys up when they are ready for some seasonsing. We aren't going to be shipping out every prospect as soon as their arby years are over.

Not to mention the fact that if they are all playing well at the end of arby years and the Brewers want to try to re-sign many of them, it'd be nice for it to be a little spread out to offset a huge payroll jump in one year. i.e. if JJ starts a contract extension/big pay raise one year, rickie/prince the next, etc. not very realistic that the Brewers would be able to try to sign them all at the same time. Of course they may buy out arby years early, trade, etc.

In any event, I am rooting for Hardy and Krynzel to both succeed in Milwaukee this year. The future begins now!

I will probably get it at the Brewers Clubhouse in Brookfield Square. I got an official Sexson one made in December 2000 and it cost about $250 (well, at least I got 3 good years out of it). Kind of pricey, but Hardy should be around longer than that, and I really like the kid.

Of course, as soon as I buy it, the Brewers will announce a uniform change and it will be out of style.

Yeah, that's a guarantee. New era...new owner...Hardy, Krynzel, Fielder, Weeks, etc. all in Milwaukee within the next 13 months. There will be new uniforms next year...hopefully the retro "dog paw" logo.

For a 5-Tool Prospect, Weeks sure can't field, throw or steal very well. O yeh, he hasn't shown much power, either.

Is getting a HBP a tool? How about having a personal website? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

anyone else getting slightly concerned that Weeks can't seem to get a hit?

I'm waaaaaaaaaaay more concerned with the fact that he can't underhand toss a ball to a shortstop to turn a DP. He's made what, 3 or 4 errors this spring? That's unacceptable, especially for a second baseman. Maybe he has throwing issues a la chuck knoblauch. Who knows, maybe he gets moved to center field. I think this would greatly increase his value if he could make the transition. Of course this is PURE speculation and admittedly based on a very small sample size, but his defense is definitely shaky.

On the other hand, his hitting will come. The guy has hit at every level so far, and has the quickest bat in the system. It's not like he's getting completely over-matched, just fooled on some off-speed pitches.

The non-roster pitchers sure aren't helping themselves in spring so far. With the roster numbers, I just don't see any way they make the roster. (Unless they really want that "Burba-type" in the bullpen)

I disagree...i think Helms is playing at the top of his game. He has one hit already this spring....doesn't he?

But scoop, now every time Helms tries to pull outside pitches and plays pepper with the SS, he only gets thrown out by 7 steps instead of his customary 8 from last year. Those 15-20 lbs are making all the difference.

And, he's a slow starter every year. Just give him until August 1. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

A few months at Nashville could be the difference to trading JJ for prospects during the 2010 season, rather than 2009.

I'm sorry, but if you feel this way, what is the point of even being a Brewer fan? If every hot prospect the Brewers have is just biding his time until they are traded for more prospects will be traded for more prospects who will be traded for more prospects?

I thought we officially banned this type type of thinking. See the sig below. We have to start now if we are ever going to get anywhere.

Krynzel and Hardy should begin the season in Milw. Hardy as the starting SS, Krynzel can platoon with Clark, PH late in games, even play RF/LF occasionally. All that means at least 300 ABs. Weeks needs to go down and work on his defense. Fielder simply doesn't have a spot with Overbay there. Same is true for Hart.
