I think I could hit off Jamey Wright, man is he worthless! Sometimes teams can't get it through their heads that potential is not always realized, and that guys like Wright tank and will never become acceptable major leaguers.

You could say "even Wes Helms could hit off of him."

I will officially HATE Ned Yost if he uses 40 Spring AB's to compare Russ and Wes rather than over 1200 MAJOR LEAGUE AB's.

Hell, if we are going off career numbers, why not just start Cirillo, he has better numbers than BOTH of em.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif

I wouldn't be surprised if Helms started as the opening day third baseman and I won't be mad. I would much rather see the crew go with the hot bat into the season rather than base it on career stats. Of course, also this is a small sample since it is beginning of spring training and Helms could be hitting AAA pitching, but if he continues to stay hot throughout spring training fans should not be surprised if he is the opening day starter. Also, again its fairly early so he could go on a long slump and this could be a waste of a post.

In reference to Helms and Branyan I assume?

Ok...no offense...but..

Dont be an Idiot. With your logic Milwaukee should attempt to get Hank Aaron to come back. Cirillo's career numbers dont matter because his best years are over 3 years old. He is in his mid 30's and can't be expected to reproduce those numbers.

As far as Helms and Branyan...they are the same age..and have nearly the same amount of Major league AB's to compare. RB has severely outplayed WH in those 1200 at bats and 40 spring AB's cant change that.

With all that said...I think Cirillo will make the team as a bench player. I hope he does.

What a weird day. Wes Helms hits two bombs, Carlos Lee goes to the hospital, and five people are killed in those shootings in Brookfield.

And yeah, I am listening to the Rockies announcers too.

Weird.

maybe you should take your own advice. Why would someone not go with the hot bat? The past is a nice measure of what they CAN do, but if they aren't doing it now, what does it matter? If the batboy is out hitting branyan and helms this year, i want HIM in, not them. Until a player proves he is ourproforming his compitition this year, he doesn't deserve to start.

Edit: and you and i agree, if cirillo doesn't make the team this year as a bench player, i would be shocked.

Rockies announcers just mentioned that Bottalico has walked 5 of the 10 hitters he has faced this spring.

Ouch.

EDIT: He just walked in a run http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif

Why did Doug Davis just bat if Bottalico is coming in to pitch?

i was wondering that as well. maybe ned wanted to give DD an AB for practice sake -- after all it is 12-0 in ST.

if it happened that way in regular season, though, i'd be bothered
