Even if Hendrickson does pitch a good game

awkward wording there. I should point out that he's allowed 5 ER and 6 hits in 4 innings thus far, however, all 5 runs came in the first start after a 2 out flyball hit 10 feet behind Magruder so him come running in 15 feet, stop, and run back only to see it hit and roll to the fence, clearing the bases. If Magruder catches that one (as many little leaguers would have), then Hendrickson has 0 ER.

Yeah... it amazes me that any of the runs were counted as earned.

I think that a player needs to touch the ball or wiff to be charged with an error. I suppose this lessens the amount of judgement the official scorer needs to use on such plays.

So, running four or five steps in the wrong direction prevented him from getting near enough the ball to be charged with an error... even tho it's a pretty obvious screw-up by the fielder.

Just one more reason to love baseball.

Chris

this is a perfect example for all you stat junkies that MOST stats are very decieving IMO.

so trying to prove someone is better than someone else based on stats alone is dumb. Especially the Branyan vs Helms competition. IMO, both players are way below average, so what does it matter?

It's a perfect example of why small sample stats are deceiving. As the sample increases into the hundreds or thousands of PAs or IPs these kinds of things even out and the reliability increases.

So this example demonstrates nothing about the reliability of stats in general.

Immediately after criticizing another poster's wording, you proceeded to include the words "so him come running in" in the middle of a run on sentence. That's awesome. I can't read the words "so him come running in" without picturing a morbidly obese woman with six teeth and a rusty trailer saying it in a Southern drawl.

I don't mean to make fun. It just makes me giggle.

Coincidently enough, the majority is only stupid when the opiner doesn't belong to it...
