I am begining to think Miller should catch 162 games and Bill Hall should be playing short. Having 1/3 of your lineup be automatic outs sort of puts you in a bad situation.

You are basically giving up 3 innings with Moeller/Hardy/Pitcher hitting 7-8-9.

I know Miller can't catch every game but perhaps Hall should start every time Moeller is in the lineup to help off set the complete lack of offense.

Welcome to the reality of the Brewers. To others teams their lineup doesn't strike fear into the bodies. There just is not enough in the Brewer lineup to make a dent against real teams. The only thing that makes this year any different than other years is that the Brewers got lucky and opened up with 5 of their first 8 games against the lowly Pirates. And they were able to win 4 of 5 against those Pirates.

I would already guess Yost will be wondering about his job on May 12th after they play a number of series against teams that will do nothing but beat up on the Brewers and put them back in the basement with the Pirates.

Hardy needs to learn how to hit. I know I'm probably going to get slammed for a lack of patience or whatever, but he's freaking hitting .130. I don't care if he's Ozzie Smith in the field. He's freaking hitting .130. That's not good enough, and if he can't start figuring this thing out, he needs to go to Nashville until he does. If this team is to win anything remotely close to 80 games this season, they can't afford to have Ben's personal catcher AND their starting shortstop hitting like they are.

When Bill Hall presents himself as a viable option, you know you have a problem.

Wearing my heart on my sleeve since birth. Hopefully, it's my only crime.

Anyone else notice both Mark Grudzielanek and Yadier Molina make a point of trying (and succeeding) to hit the ball the the right side of the IF with a runner on 2nd and no outs??

Grudz went through for a hit and scored a run and Molina's set up another run. That, folks, is what professional teams do, or rather, winning teams. What did we do with runners on 1st and second and no outs? Moeller swung at the first pitch, hit a tapper to 3rd, Jenks ran into a tag and we were out of the inning.

I was at that game, the crew never really got anything going worth getting excited about, and we ran ourselves out of another scoring opportunity with Clark getting picked off on a steal attempt. Clark was not even close.

Suppan seemed like he was jamming quite a few guys, I was up in the 400 level between home and first and it sounded like he cracked a bunch of bats. Only on a few occasions did it sound like Brewer hitters got good wood on the ball.

I have no idea of what hapened to Sheets on those two throws to first, but they ended up costing him big time. Maybe his wallet was weighing him down too much causing him to be off balance? Ben never looked really comfortable out on the hill this evening.

I still had a good time though, it was my first game of the season and it was nice to get back to the ball park.

I saw quite a few Brewers leaning on the dugout railing watching the game, but no Wes Helms. I think that maybe being out on the railing would show the team he's still excited about the game but he didn't show. Unless maybe he was wearing a jacket and just out of my sight.

On a side note, I managed to win 4 tickets for the Reds @ Milwaukee game on the 29th.

I was at that one, and well........it was quick. Nothing really happened, suppan was on definite cruise control. Somehow the Brewers struck out Pujols twice, who is very hard to strike out.........about the only positive thing coming out of the game.

Good News is that Sheets will be back for 4 more years http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah, I was there too, I think the best part was Julian Tavarez throwing a ball to me, after he was done warming up. I was tempted to chuck it at Izzy when he was coming in, but restrained myself...

Is it really good news to have Sheets back for 4 more years? Afterall, that means for more years of games like today, where Sheets is Sheets and some scrub with 5.00 career ERA is Cy Young. Do we really want 4 more years of that?

I was at the game as well.

A few issues:

Note to Nedly: That guy playing CF is not the same guy as last year. Don't put up the steal sign every time he reaches first.

Note to Chad Moeller: Think about taking a strike when you're down three runs in the eighth.

Note to Jenkins: Feel free to advance to third when the 2nd baseman retrieves a base hit to right field (actually, not sure if he missed the sign or what, but that cost the Brewers a run later on in that inning)

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I find it funny that the knowledgable fans here are talking about Suppan as if he's terrible. I don't think anyone looked at the matchups for the series and said any of the games would be easy. Suppan is a very solid pitcher. Carpenter may have figured it out, we'll see, and Marquis is a very good up and coming pitcher. Remember, some times pitchers have good games. How many bats did he break? I can think of at least one of Clark's, 2 of Jenkins', and probably another one or two.

And by the way, I love Rolen at third. Bill Hall should be made to watch footage of him. Rolen gets the ball and fires to first, not caring where the runner is. Hall likes to take his time and it often costs him.
