From Prarieghosts.com:Pfister Hotel, where the ghost of founder Charles Pfister reportedly greets guests and has returned to make sure that they are well taken care of. He has been spotted looking over the lobby from a spot on the grand staircase and has also been seen walking in the gallery above the ballroom. Witnesses identify him from a portrait of him that hangs in the lobby.

From Marquettetribune.org:Phantom dogs are said to run up and down the halls of The Pfister Hotel, 424 E. Wisconsin Ave.,

If you think that's odd, this is my 666th post, and I'm in the Pfister right now. Wait, someone's in my closet..... N-n-n-ice doggy! Hey mister, is that your dog? What are you doing with that knife? Hey, don't....

Unless your name is Magglio Ordóñez.

No kidding. I remember a argument on this site a few months back advocating signing Ordóñez to a contract to play CF, arguing that he was in perfect health and that he'd be a steal. Hindsight is 20-20, but wow...that's a horrible contract for the Tigers now.

I'll be at the game too- should be a good time. Let's hope that the Dodgers are tired, and the Brewers are hugry for a few runs. Think I'm going to buy a $5 ticket and sit where ever I want to. (That's one plus about a bad team- buy cheap seats, move down.)

The Tigers dodged a bullet on Juan Gonzalez, but they are gonna take it in the rear on the Magglio Contract.

I think the thing that will fix Carlos Lee is a road trip. I wonder if he isnt pressing a bit in front of his new fans.

Are we in Houston on Wed or are they here?

RyDogg,

Not sure if Carlos is pressing or what, but he was definitely swinging for the fences in the ninth on Sunday.

I've been generally impressed with Capuano this year and will look forward to seeing him pitch tonight...

Lee is bound to get out of his slump soon enough, might as well be tonight

(making a mental note to stay at the Pfister sometime)

also, I hate to say this this early in the season, but today's game is must-win. We need to get back to .500 and stay above it. I don't mind losing the games to the Cards (although we should have probably taken 1 game), but losing two to the Cubs really hurt. Still, we need a strong performance against LA and Hou these next 4 days. Maybe the Juicebox will wake up our bats.

Let's not get carried away here....

Maybe it is because I have been forced to be away from this board for most of the past week, but my optimism and excitement for this year's edition of the Crew has yet to wane. I have seen no reason to believe that this team is worse than advertised, meaning that it is still improved over last year's squad. Pitching has been strong for the most part, and the offense will pick up, because....well, because it will! The bench worries me along with seemingly everyone else, but come July, I anticipate the bench looking quite a bit differently anyway.

Come on guys, I come here to pick myself up from the doldrums of my daily work.

Down with negativity!

Go Brewers.

Prediction: Capuano goes 7, 2 ER, gets the win.

Hardy and Spivey have big days at the plate. Middle infield leads us to a win, 5-2. Count it.

Much as I enjoy your posts, DHonks, I disagree with the notion that this game, or any April game, is 'must-win.'

Must win or else what? The Dodgers are hot, probably one of top three teams in the league, and Perez is the kind of guy that could give this team fits. Were I a betting man, I'd take the Dodgers in this one. And yet it doesn't change my belief that the Brewers are a 75 win team this year.

Yeah, kind of regretted posting that immediately. Basically, I'm an eternal optimist. Last year's team was much like this in terms of starting out with a few wins. But the key is that they never allowed themselves to fall more than a few below .500. I guess I didn't mean "must-win" in the truest sense of the term. Instead I probably should have said "a win today can go a long ways towards righting the ship." A win today brings us back to .500 with a guarantee of being within a game of .500 and Sheets and Davis going Wed-Thurs.

Plus, we're the Brewers. We need all the wins in April/May we can get. Teams with more firepower can afford slow starts and still finish well above .500. We've seen it with quality teams like the Astros and Yankees. Plus, we saw last year that the most important game in each series for the Crew is the first game. Throughout the first half they won many 1st games in the series. Then they can split the next two and have taken the series. In a two game series, taking game one is especially important.

I'm looking for Carlos Lee to get his bat hot again. (Or at the very least start taking sliders that are a foot outside of the plate instead of striking out on them... Lord knows thats all he's gonna see after that Cardinals series on 2 strike pitches until he gets his plate discipline together again)

I agree in a sense that this losing streak needs to stop now. It may be ludicrous to say that this is a must win but the Brewers also need to avoid at all costs lengthy losing streaks. String a couple long losing streaks together and it'll almost feel impossible to get back to .500.

I hope for the Crew to be able to hover around .500 all year with swings possibly going back and forth. Lengthy losing streaks could be too costly to overcome.
