Wow,

Just got done watching the Draft over on ESPN. Went to the boxscore online and noted that the 8 & 9 hitters for the Giants are responsible for 4 of the 5 Giants runs. Nice job Cappy. :-)

was branyans home run really worth his two horrible plays?

well, in addition to the HR, he has a single and a BB. With the way our offense has been without him, I'd say getting on base 3 times in 3 PAs is pretty darn good. And personally, I'd only call one of the plays horrible. The first was tough and he did a good job of diving and knocking it down. neither was an error if I heard correct.

I concur. It was difficult and Branyan did the right thing. The second play could have been an error, though.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I don't disagree about the difficulty of the plays Branyan failed to make. But if Helms handled the same balls in the same way, he would be crucified in forums like this. Few would be lining up with apologies.

well..I must say Ned is absolutly brain dead on this call. He wastes a pitcher out of the bullpen for 1 at bat. Against the pitcher. What is he smoking? Thats just horrific baseball managing.

Someone check his feeding tube because I think the last signs of brain activity were a while ago.

Scoop, Santos threw a CG last night, so the pen is at full strength. Adams and Bottalico could probably use innings just to stay sharp. And there's others out there, too

Against the pitcher.

He's no Sheets, Davis or Santos. Tomko is one of the best hitting pitchers in the game.

dhonks......

tomko has a career avg in the .170s and an ops around 400. Either let Capuano face him or double switch so Wise can stay in the game for the next inning. Pull Moeller for Miller or Spivey for Cirillo.

Bad Managing.

i still think both plays were pretty horrible. The first one might have been a little more difficult, but when you get the announcers(who might be the worst I have ever heard) to agree that it should have been an error, I think it should have been. He didnt really even dive for the ball... he got down on his knees and stuck his glove out, and the ball hit his glove.

Where was he going to double switch? He couldn't put Billy Hall in at short batting 9th, because the pitcher still would be due up the next half inning. He couldn't put Wise in the 8-hole, because then Miller would have to come in to catch, leaving no other catcher on the bench.

If you're suggesting that Capuano should have been left in to face the pitcher, then I can see your point on that.

Pitchers coming in to face one hitter is not that uncommon, and its not like Ned wasted a pitcher like a Francisco Rodriguez - he used Matt Wise. Big deal.

I thought it was a good idea for Hardy to bunt in that situation given his struggles this year....HOWEVER, if Yost is afraid to swing away with JJ in the two-hole when we are down three runs he should not be hitting #2.

PS- Nice for Jenkins to come through in the clutch. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
