It is only the First Inning and it is time to put a couple of slugs in The Dave Burba Experience, this is just handing the other team an automatic victory. For crying out loud there has to be pitchers available that can get major league hitters out and keep an era right around 5.

Final line on Dave Burba:

5 2/3 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 2 HR.....ERA 4.76

Well, it could have been worse, considering he gave up 9 hits.... Somehow I was hoping for a bit more out of Burba, but i'm not sure why that is.

Even still, wouldn't it have made sense to bring up someone from double A or something to get them a cup of coffee, let them show what they've got against major league hitters? Granted, Burba wasn't bad tonight but I think this start could have ben better used on a guy looking to get his feet wet.

Tonights game again shows the Crew needs to find another righthanded stick. Tonights lineup had a much different fear factor than yesterdays when you have to replace Vandy and Kieschnik with Clark and Ginter. Hopefully the Crew can pick up a young righty swinging OF when it deals one of its veterens.

I was happy with his performance. Although not great by any measuring stick. He gave us a chance to win - which is more than can be said for Quevedo or Rusch. I also agree with not starting the arbitration clock on any youngster. Let Burba be a stopgap, if he gets hammered - release him.

If the Brewers would have been playing a team that has some decent power in the lineup Burba would have got smoked. Don't let the numbers deceive you, he let a ton of guys (10) get on base in his 5 2/3 innings. Certainly his debut performance is better than what the Brewers were getting from Quevedo and Rusch, but I would credit that to the light hitting Minnesota lineup.

Also, I would have to say why not let one of the better AA arms come up and take a shot, worrying about their arbitration clock is silly, because you never know what could happen. What if one of the AA arms comes up and is lights out like Willis is for Florida, is it then such a bad thing to start the arbitration clock running? Sure all of the AA arms should pitch a considerable amount at AAA, but if the player and the manager think they could successfully pitch in the big leagues what is the harm in bringing them up to try?!?

jopal that makes no sense to bring up a young starter to play on a team that isnt contending once the time comes to where it loook as though they will contend then bring them up.

Burba was good for a guy who hasnt started in the the big league for a while. as for Minnesota not being a power team. stick rush or Q against them then say that lmao
