Yost has got to be doing flips that he has Luis and Kolb both throwing mid to upper 90's. God grief, that is fantastic news. Sutton and Schroeder were talking about the great arm of Bennet as well so perhaps the bullpen could be a big weapon. I can't wait for tomorows game.

Even when Sheets has a bad outing it is uncharacteristic for him to give up five walks.
Ben only gave up 3 walks. Burba accounted for the other two walks given up today.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

One thing that pleased me was that Sutton and Schroeder talked about the importance of OBP almost immediately in the beginning of the broadcast, and discussed how it was especially important to this year's team. Ben Grieve also talked about its importance in the post-game interview.

But I noted later on that Schroeder is still hung up on fielding percentage as the only thing determining a player's defensive value.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

think hall will get a shot tomorrow?

Don't you think it's a little early to make changes to the everyday lineup? I mean, sure the guy didn't get a hit, but he had some decent ABs....I'm sure Overbay will do better tomorrow. Besides, I don't think Hall even has a first-baseman's mitt.

Counsell walked once, put down a good sac bunt when the Brewers took the lead in the 3rd inning. In other words, out of the 5 times he went up to the plate, he got his job done twice. Not the greatest of days, but hardly cause for criticism. I'll be so bold as to say that he won't carry a .250 OBP all season.

Just stop. I don't want to have to hear stuff like this for another 161 games....can't you just enjoy the win?

Bj, not sure who you were responding to, but I don't think Getpaddled's comment was calling for Hall to replace Overbay tomorrow. He even predicted that Overbay would come up big in tomorrow's game. And since Yost has mentioned giving Hall a couple starts a week, it's not out of the question to see Hall soon. There's really no such thing as an everyday lineup with this squad. It isn't as if we have 8 all-stars and a roll of pennies on the bench.

Just saw the highlights on Baseball Tonight... my gosh, Podzilla has a quick swing. You get spoiled by it last season, but after not seeing it for a few months... and a Web Gem to boot.

Grieve looks like a stick. He can't weigh a pound over 200. That's a guy you need to get in the weight room and a way to prove that not all MLB players take steroids.

Yeah! That record makes Milwaukee seem downright... competitive. I might just clip the standings from tomorrow's paper and keep them under my pillow for happy baseball dreams.

Of course, as was pointed out earlier on this thread, the Brewers started the '02 season 1-0 -- and look where that got them. Ehh, we should get this day to revel.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Kolb, Vizcaino, and Bennett... the 2004 version of the Nasty Boys.

Well, Kolb and Bennett certainly have the looks for it.

I just watched the replay on FSN and Viz was just dominate. His fastball was dead on and the split was really working. His velocity was way up from last year. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Kolb, Vizcaino, and Bennett... the 2004 version of the Nasty Boys.

How about we let Bennett make his debut against non-spring training major leaguers before proclaiming him a nasty boy? For all we know, he'll get shellacked in April and be a Pirate again by May.

That was a great win today. Many more will come.

I do have a question. How did Pujols get credited with a double? Nothing against Helms, but that ball was not hit hard and should have been an error. If Helms wants to be talked with in the same category as the other NL 3B, make the easy plays.

Pujols getting a hit for that is another one of the jokes that is hurting major league baseball. I dont think he needs help to get hits. I forget, who was pitching when that happened? Matt Ford? Tough luck kid.

We played a nice game minus the Sheets error and the short hop Helms failed to scoop up.Guys went up there and took walks, absolutely required for this team to score runs.

One thing that was nice to see is there didnt seem to be any sure outs in the lineup.Granted the lack of overall power with cause problems at times, but the team looks like it's going to score a reasonable amount of runs.Hell even Helms was taking pitches and walked twice,Wynager must be getting to these guys.

Vizcaino was outstanding among the pitchers,i didnt remember him ever having a splitter. With him throwing 95 again,he could be nasty if he's consistant with that split.

We've played ONE game and our pen is being dubbed the '04 "nasty boys"?

I think it's perfectly fine since it's pretty much hedging your bet when you think about it, as nasty has a double meaning. It could either be nasty as in nasty toward opposing hitters, or nasty as in rotten and atrocious.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif One way or the other, they'll be nasty.

Great job by the bullpen. Even the two runs surrendered by Ford were tainted. Ford himself could have turned a double play but his slight bobble cost him and Helms should have made that play on Pujols' double. At least he should have smothered it and prevented one run from scoring. Very encouraging to see Ford have hitters pounding the ball in the dirt.

Free Keith Ginter.

Free Bill Hall.
