ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Jason Marquis hopes to get off to a

good start with his new team Tuesday night as the St. Louis

Cardinals continue a four-game series with the Milwaukee

Brewers at Busch Stadium.

 

Marquis made just two starts for Atlanta last season and

was traded with two other pitchers to St. Louis for outfielder

J.D. Drew and catcher Eli Marerro in December.

 

The 25-year-old Marquis is hoping for a better result than Matt

Morris, who allowed seven runs - five earned - and five hits

in six innings in Monday's 8-6 loss.

 

The Brewers, who won 68 games last season, had just six

hits Monday. Ben Grieve hit a two-run homer and

Scott Podsednik hit a three-run shot.

We've actually had the Statfox info for a couple of years now. It's provided by Statfox who actually is a local (Milwaukee area) stat company, who fortunately, are Brewers fans.

He as actually pitched really well, but those two mistakes are making it look kind of ugly.

If Davis were pitching ugly, I'd expect Edmonds, Pujols, Rolen, and/or Sanders to do most of the damage.

 

Marquis is looking ugly, though. If the Crew can pounce on him in the fifth, and rack up three or four runs in a big inning, they can put Hernandez in and let the bullpen take over.

 

If LaRussa isn't quick with the hook...

It seems Davis has good secondaries (WHIP of 1.00, 4 K in 5 innings). Chalk up the gopher balls to bad luck.
