6/4/05 Brewers (Santos) @ Dodgers (Houlton) 9:10 CST

Please get a hit, Billy. Don't take the Bill Hall 2004 huge swing. Or at least dodge a wild pitch in the dirt or something.

Wishful thinking. The one time you need him to have an AB like a grown-up and he does that.

Weeks has GOT to be up as soon as they're sure he isn't Super 2. Doug must be thinking this.

I'm sure in their minds, it isn't even a factor. The play of Rickie Weeks will decide when he gets to the big leagues. What's the difference between a super 2 and a regular 3rd year guy? Maybe $1 million tops, more likely far less.

There is good news...we won't be facing any no-name rookie pitchers the next four games! Dare I say, 4-0???

No excuse to lose this game. 2 runs on back to back pitches for the Dodgers. Three 2-1 losses in one week is UNACCEPTABLE. Get us some offense Melvin.

Weeks is on pace to hit 30+ jacks, 40+ doubles and 20+ (!) triples with Nashville. That's on top of more than 20 stolen bases 170 total hits... in AAA. And he'll only get better there. It is almost (but maybe not quite) to the point where I'd deal with the defensive inadequecies at second base. Dauer is a good defensive infield teacher, probably the best in the organization, and Weeks could pick up numerous things from watching Hardy at short and Cirillo at third. I'm no big fan of his defense, but Spivey's offense is so atrocious that his defensive range isn't even starting to make up for it anymore.

I guess my only qualm with the way the Brewers have raised him is that he, in my mind, projects as a third baseman, and they should have stuck him at the hot corner awhile ago. It'l hurt the Brewers defensively anywhere he plays this season, but his tools speak more to third long term. Regardless, he should be up soon.

You said it Toby. I think Weeks' defense at this point in time is just an easy excuse as to why he hasn't already been called up. The real reason he hasn't probably has more to do with the fact that Melvin is trying to deal Spivey before releasing him. Every GM in the league knows what Weeks is doing, and they know that at some point in time Spivey, even as a utility player, will be free on the open market within a few weeks (no pun intended).

He'll be up in a matter of weeks, and I can't wait.

Just got back from my 3 ird game . I took quite a bit of abuse tonight as the LA locals were in rare form. There were maybe 10 of us sporting the Brew Crew. Its been fun looking forward for tommorows game.

Carlos Lee really puts on a show in BP he hit a few out of the stadium, also overbay had a nice run yesterday with a 3 for 3 over the wall.

You guys really think Weeks will save this lineup? He's not going to hit .300 (I hope he does, but still....) and who's he going to replace? Hall? He's done a GREAT job so far.

Well one could certainly aruge that if you bring up Weeks and have Hall and the coming around Hardy battling it out for PT at SS your cutting down the underperforming spots in the line up to just Jenkins. Realistically Hall's contribution to this point in the season has been to make our middle IF production merely very bad as oppossed to two spots of Neifi Perez black hole goodness. I wonder if Hall could catch????

No, there's far more to it than that. See the super 2 thread for more...

1. Yes, a much better job than Spivey can do 'saving' this lineup.

2. He'll replace Spivey, who will be sent packing. Hall can continue his 6 starts a week between 2B, SS, 3B.

I don't think Weeks is going to come up and instantly be a 40/40 guy, but we aren't talking about some middle of the road prospect who is 20 years old. We're talking about a polished hitter, who is destroying AAA pitching. Yeah, he's going to take his lumps, but all he needs to do to be better than Spivey is not K every 3rd at-bat and hit about .250. All very reasonable requests.

Sent packing? This is not the NFL where players can just be dumped. The only way Spivey leaves this team is through trade. Besides, I doubt we will see Weeks until at least mid to late July (see Super 2 arby thread) but that is just my opinion.

In the last few weeks Milwaukee has had Johan Santana, Jake Peavey and Eric Gagne on the ropes. Three of the top pitchers in MLB. 0-3. We needs some offense. Put me on board for wanting to see if R Weeks can add some punch to this anemic offense. Spivey sucks. Plain and simple. Jenkins at least has a track record of good baseball to allow him a bit of a leash. Spivey hasn't earned any right to suck for this long and remain in the lineup.

Melvin owes it to Sheets-Davis-Capuano and Santos to get some freakin offense in the lineup. Weeks is mashing at an unreal rate. I have never seen a Brewer farmhand dominating like this at AAA. He needs to be in Milwaukee sooner than later.
