6/4/05 Brewers (Santos) @ Dodgers (Houlton) 9:10 CST

bryan

I don't have access to a complete minor league statistics database (yet - I'm working on it) but the only two Brewers Triple-A seasons I could find that are comparable to what Weeks has done are as follows:

Joey Meyer - 1987 | Denver

79 G, 296 AB, .311/.380/.682, 1062 OPS

Glenn Braggs - 1986 | Vancouver

90 G, 325 AB, .360/.439/.615, 1054 OPS

And Weeks is doing even better. These stats are just estimates, BTW, as I don't have access to HBP and sacrifice data (so on-base average is BB+H/BB+AB).

Spivey's made the same amount of All-Star teams Jenkins has: 1. It's not like Jenkins is some great player that can't be sat. He's just an overpaid one that can't get sat.

No one said anything about All Star appearances. Ricky Bones made an All-Star game too. Was he worth a crap? No. All Star appearances make no difference when comparing players. Nomar is going to the AS game this year. Did he earn it? NO. Is he in a huge market, yes. End of story. Big market players have a totally unfair advantage when determining All-Star members.

Next, in the history of the Milwaukee Brewers Geoff Jenkins is in the top 9 TWICE for best OPS seasons ever. That has earned him more of a right to suck for a while than Spivey. I am not trying to say that Jenkins hasn't sucked this year, because he has. I AM saying that he has earned a longer leash than Junior. There is no comparison. Spivey hasn't done ANYTHING to earn some starting mandate. Jenkins has. Does Geoff need to get is arse in gear? Heck yeah. Bottem line, GJ has a history with this organization and has had monster seasons, JS hasn't.

Just a little side note to what Bill said, Meyer was 25 years old and Braggs was 23, as is Weeks.

Weeks won't be 23 until September 13th. The man is 22 and KILLING AAA. 1.134 OPS. Just for fun, RW is on pace for these numbers, given 550 AB's

40 doubles

26 triples

35 HR's

23 SB's

119 runs

139 RBI

380 Total Bases

Part of me wants to see how his numbers end up in a full season at Nashville, but MOST of me wants this guy playing 2b in Milwaukee NOW.

I think we should have Wes Helms step on JDLR's foot and send him to the DL. Bring up Weeks for the interleague road games, we need another hitter for those. He could even DH if he is that much of a club in the field.

I'd strongly consider this actually. This warrants a thread of its own...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

Sent packing? This is not the NFL where players can just be dumped.

What is this game called again? Base-ball? I had no clue, I thought we were talking football . . . no, I wasn't.

Did I say cut? Nope, sure didn't. Spivey for some crappy A-baller sounds fantastic right now.

But thanks for putting words in my mouth and assuming I don't know how this sport works
