I think Torre got himself thrown out because the score was 7-2 and he felt that could win without him. He was sticking up for his player. That is one reason why players love to play for him. It was obvious to me that he was not going to leave the field until after he was ejected. By getting himself ejected, you can bet he saved Tino grief with the press and the boss. I have no doubt that the players appreciate things like that.

Does Ned actually realize you can remove pitchers DURING an inning? Should someone tell him?

 

It's like the bases need to be loaded for him to realize that it's time to make a change.

 

So frustrating.
