6/10/05: Brewers (Vampire) at Phillies (Myers), 605pm CT

Bruce Ciskie

The Phillies are smokin' hot, winners of nine of ten. Myers has somehow emerged as the staff ace, even though his record is unimpressive.

Can Vampire get back in the win column? Can the Brewers figure out this "scoring" thing? Can the peeps on this board go a game without having to rip Chad Moeller to shreds?

We'll find out tonight. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Wearing my heart on my sleeve since birth. Hopefully, it's my only crime.

Without Junior Spivey, we're doomed!!!! I'm predicting JJ Hardy's first HR tonight!!! And I'm predicting Moeller goes 2-4. And I'm predicting Lee and Jenks go O-fer but we still take the close game by a run.

...actually, Moller sort of hit the ball well against the Yankees, I hope that he can continue that trend, as we'll need it vs the Phillies.

Moller has brought his avg. up to a scorching .162. Of course, that's in only 74 AB's, so a couple hits, and he could be over .200 in no time.

-I used to have a neat-o signature, but it got erased.

Moeller only hit the ball well against the Yankees because the Yankees are the worst defensive team ever. Why does teh Yankee pitching seem so bad? Because routine flyballs turn into doubles with the statues teh Yankees have in the outfield.

Wow, that lineup is beautiful. Maybe the trade shocked Ned into doing something abnormal?

If you had told me the players to pick from, I think I would have picked that same exact order. Ned's made me happy for the day.

I hope that's the real lineup. I'm looking forward to Jenks in the 6 hole, where I think he'll be fine - we know what we're going to get out of him, which is a streaky hitter (right now, its a pathetically bad streak). Lyle in the 3 hole is the concern. Hopefully that is the jolt that he needs to get back on track. He can't be any less productive than Jenks has been the last couple of weeks hitting 3rd.

I don't think Jenkins will see too many good pitches hitting 6th, but he hasn't been driving good pitches lately anyway. With Hardy and Moeller to follow, there is no reason to pitch to Jenkins. Now that I think about it, with Jenkins following Bill Hall, there is not much reason to give Billy anything to hit either.

My prayers are finally being answered. Jenkins is dropped in the order. We found a decent fifth starter. Spivey has been traded, and Weeks is on his way.

It's as if the Brewers organization has finally seen the light.

Rotoworld snippet on Sandbox.

"Brewers manager Ned Yost has Lyle Overbay batting third and Geoff Jenkins in the sixth spot tonight against the Phillies.

Common sense prevails! Overbay has cooled off in a big way, but he still has a .411 OBP this season and that was mostly being wasted in the fifth spot in the order. Jenkins is hitting just .248/.335/.390. Maybe he'll get better in the second half like he did last year, but he shouldn't be batting any higher than fifth or sixth until he heats up."

Pretty lineups. I'm praying that O and Jenks will have huge days and Ned will be afraid to change this lineup the rest of the season.

Yes brewers19, Rickie is on his way!

Call me stupid, but I'm not a fan of Rickie coming up.

First off, there's the issue of his defense, but that's not my biggest concern.

Doesn't this somewhat put us back into the position that we just got ourselves out of?

One can't just allow Weeks to ride the bench for the rest of the season, so he'll probably get a fair amount of playing time. But because Hall his hitting well, will he get starts at shortstop and JJ will still sit out most games?

The only way I see this working is if Hall and Weeks go 50-50 at second, otherwise I don't think it's a good idea.
