Jorge today:

== / 7th / ==

Mike Lowell walked.

Alex Gonazelez struck-out swinging.

Paul Lo Duca grounded into a 6-4-3 double-play.

== / 8th / ==

Chris Resop struck-out swinging.

Juan Pierre singled.

Damion Easley struck-out swinging.

Jeff Conine walked.

Miguel Cabrera doubled to drive in Pierre and Conine.

Juan Encarnacion struck-out swinging.

2 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 4 K

Not good, but "4 K" is nice to see. Cabrera was the only one to hit him hard, in any case.

Oh well. At least he got to pitch.

As I understand it, the only way 4.5 = game is if the home team hasn't taken any AB's in the bottom of the 5th. If the game is suspended, it would go back to the score after the Brewers AB's which was 3-3, so no way this game can be called, IIRC.
Stuff from the rule book. This part has been around forever:
4.10

(a) A regulation game consists of nine innings, unless extended because of a tie score, or shortened

(1) because the home team needs none of its half of the ninth inning or only a fraction of it, or

(2) because the umpire calls the game. ...

© If a game is called, it is a regulation game:

(1) If five innings have been completed;

(2) If the home team has scored more runs in four or four and a fraction half innings than the visiting team has scored in five completed half innings;

(3) If the home team scores one or more runs in its half of the fifth inning to tie the score.

(d) If each team has the same number of runs when the game ends, the umpire shall declare it a "Tie Game."

(e) If a game is called before it has become a regulation game, the umpire shall declare it "No Game." ...

This is a relatively recent change. I don't know when it was made but it gets rid of the 'revert to the last full inning part':
4.12

SUSPENDED GAMES.

(a) A league shall adopt the following rules providing for completion at a future date of games terminated for any of the following reasons: ...

(5) Weather, if the game is called while an inning is in progress and before it is completed, and one of the following situations prevails:

(i) The visiting team has scored one or more runs to tie the score, and the home team has not scored.

(ii) The visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead, and the home team has not tied the score or retaken the lead.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Ya know, if we could just turn this thing around, and get better defense, more speed on the paths, consistent hitting, and very solid fundamental play, we could contend for a playoff spot.

Why, we'd take the Series no problem!!

My complaint is the horrible fundamentals...It's one thing to not have the raw talent it's another to play like it's a little league game.
When you watch the Little League World Series, you find that their fundamentals are fine. They could teach a few lessons to some big league clubs. I'll refrain from naming names. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif

[ not a good feeling about today. A win would be a wonderful suprise but I am expecting to get run out of town.

9-2 Marlins. Bummer.

I hope we kick some rear, but I just dont see it today. ]

Scoop, you need to take off your Brewer goggles next time. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Better get some bullpen help too.

[ somewhere in the world....a big fat huge check is being made out to......

Harold D. Wynegar .... ]

I suppose by that rationale, there should be 7 other hitting coaches fired first. This is the same team that banged out 16 hits a couple of days ago. I wouldn't cry myself to sleep if Butch was let go, but I really don't see what his firing would accomplish at this point. Most of the players on the team have been hot & cold... there aren't many players who are just flat out lost up there that I could point to Butch and say "it's your fault".

Didn't get to see this game on Gameday...pretty glad I didn't I guess. I think some bullpen changes will be made at the all star break. There are definitely some people who have been floundering as of late, and some people in AAA who have been dominant.

I never said it was his "fault". I implied that its time his arse was canned. An axe needs to fall, and it ain't going to be Nedly, yet. This offense goes into embaressingly horrid funks, and someone needs to take the fall. 9 hits in 21 innings doesn't cut it, especially at a time where this team could have made a statement.

I think Melvin should start re-thinking his public(?) stance that Overbay will not be traded this year. We could use him and Jenkins together as bait to get rid of Jenkins' contract. I just don't see much in Lyle that gets me excited anymore. He is not hitting the ball hard and his defense is not good.
