Someone hurry up and grab Furcal a beer or two
What a terrible and inacurate post. Everybody knows that if you have drank as much as he has since the age of 7, you need a LOT more than a beer or two to get him drunk. He's got to have a monster tolerance by now.

I was compelled to look at the opposing team lineups today, because I keep being told how talentless we are. Heck, Atlanta has less talent up and down the lineup than we do...

Here we go, by batting order

Clark v Furcal - Clark ave .311 with 27 walks, Furcal .243 ave with 29 walks, HRs are 7 to 6 in Clarks favour; Furcal big advantage 29 to 8 in stolen bases (but remember they are overrated)

Weeks v Johnson - Weeks ahead in all categories except walks ave .266 to .258, home runs tied at 5, but Weeks 94 at bats Johnson 120

Actually, I will not do this full for each position, but we are incredibly alike down the lineup, in fact we are a wee bit better

Overbay v Giles

Lee v Andrew Jones

Jenkins v Methusala

Hall v Marte (big time Crew advantage here)

Miller v Estrada

Hardy v Francouer

So, our lineups are incredibly similar. Our pitching is better (well, it was last time I checked).

C'mon Crew

Like I said a million times - the problem with this team is MENTAL. And it is spread all across - players AND coaches. I can coach third base better than that. Actually it will be better to not have a coach.

I realize this is hyperbole, but it is literally wrong. The Milwaukee Braves once had Gene Oliver hit a HR that didn't count because the 3rd base coach had been tossed out and not replaced. The umps ruled the HR didn't count because there must be a 3rd base coach. Oliver than struck out.

re Hall v Marte, I am only going on MLB stats to date. But I believe Billy Hall out performed Marte in Pee Wee league.

Honestly, it is what stat heads do. They grab the stat the justifies their predetermined judgment.

I agree, HOFFY. The "Winning Mentality" theory always seemed a little goofy, but here is proof. I was thinking the same thing, and trying to find a way to word it in a post. It just seems like this entire team loses focus on the big picture in their games.

Say goodnight to this game. Davis sitting in the dugout sees that his team has somehow bet on the Braves in Vegas (based on the last inning debacle)... and Doug decides why the heck do I bother.

Interesting how Atlanta get two hits in an inning and have a rally. The Crew gets two hits and have a joke.

What a team.

You were apparently the one with the predetermined judgement, considering you were unaware of/never bothered with Marte's numbers, and assumed Hall was better than Marte. If your post was based on talent, like I think you said, the edge has to definitely go to Marte. One player has an established performance record of dominance in the minor leagues. The other one was pretty undistinguished.

Andy Marte at Richmond: .283/.379/.504, 11 HR, 37 BB/49 K

I'd say Marte is a better player than anyone the Brewers trot out at 3rd.

Those numbers look a lot like Corey Hart's...hope Clancy isn't reading this.

Clark heating up?

Why don't we make a move after the break to get somebody with some fire in his belly to jack this team's winning mentality up?

Or wait - why doesn't someone currently on the team step up and take a leadership role? That would be nice.
