Basically it comes down to choosing two out of these three: Hall, Branyan and Hardy. The way JJ is hitting, I'm glad Yost is keeping him in the lineup. I guess right now I'd rather have Branyan than Hall. Branyan, I'm sure, would like to play against the team that released him.

Why isn't Branyan playing?

Simply put, Yost has never really cared for him. When Melvin had to force Yost into benching his buddy Helms to play Branyan, I'm sure that really ticked Yost off. So, despite Branyan being a better hitter and probably a better defender at 3rd, Hall starts.

Sometimes there are more important things than winning!

I know small sample, but Hall has 2 hits in 3 ABs vs Ortiz...Branyan hitless in 6 ABs.

I sure HOPE Yost doesn't use anything as meaningless as 3 and 6 AB's. Of course, the supposed smartest guy in baseball (LaRussa) uses them incescently.

Billy is hitting .342/.395/.699 v. Cincy lifetime. Not bad.

I've never undertood the team splts. Maybe Bill is like a bull; the sight of red makes him hit better?

Pitcher/batter splits make sense, team splits are useless.

Someone please tell me, how many times are they going to show the same segment of Bill marinating the chicken breasts? Seriously, can't they find anything better to show?

If you think about them, they don't really make sense. Too many variables (dif parks, dif pitchers, etc.) to make them that good of an indicator.

Still, I find them interesting because there are certainly other players that always seem to kill the Brewers.

So, now Yost has a man-crush on Billy Hall and Helms and wants both of them to start over Branyan only because Melvin forced Yost to play Branyan. How do you want it? Yost has 3 players to play two positions (and his man-love Helms isn't even an option at 3rd anymore), he's been changing them pretty consistantly since Branyan got back and JJ starting swinging.

If you're going to complain about Branyan not playing can people please come up with something other than Yost's man-crushes or players he "hates."

Maybe he is playing Billy Hall because he has always hit well against the Reds, that is also a possibility.
