7/26/05 D-Backs (Webb) @ Brewers (Capuano) 7:05 CST/Bad Mojo

[ Where do you get these? If the bickering amongst regulars weren't enough, I'd tune in to bf.net just to see your sigs. ]

This one is from "Elstree" by The Buggles (the band with the one-hit wonder "video killed the radio star". They used that clip in a techno song, and it rattled around in my head until I found out what the source was.

Was it just me, or did anyone else notice that the Brewers allowed Country Stadium to go to hell in a handbasket in order to make a better case for a new stadium?

You could say that if you want to assign ulterior motives. But you could also say it's just not smart to put much money into something that's going to be demolished in a few years.

It would have been awesome if they just started putting old car parts and burned out refridgerators in the outfield. Maybe some wind chimes as well.

Well... maybe it's just the cynic in me, but I'm sure Bud didn't mind being able to point to the old place and say - "look at this old decrepit building". Don't get me wrong -- I supported the building of Miller Park. It's just that the old girl looked a heck of a lot worse in '93 than it did in '87.

What was ulterior about their motives?

I fully agree that County Stadium was treated disgracefully in the last few years. I understand that pouring in lots of money would have been a waste, but keeping it clean and maintained, especially the scoreboard, is the least that taxpayers and paying customers should have expected. I've seen comic book shops that were cleaner. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif That said, it probably cost the Seligs more by keeping people away from the ballpark than it would have cost to maintain it, but that was typical of management at the time, penny wise and pound foolish.

Did you happen to use the restrooms on a crowded day? Those amenities would've been a welcome upgrade.

As long as we're throwing bad mojo around.....

(Couldn't find a pic of him in a Brewers uniform, but still scary enough.)

I'll be there again tonight...2 nights in a row! Hopefully we'll have the same result, only without a managerial decision that generates a 12 page thread.

From Roto world

Bill Hall ? Much to the pleasure of those lucky fantasy owners who scooped him up, Hall had a nice run. Unfortunately, the good times are gone like Jimmy Walker?s glory days. Just a month ago, Hall?s average was up at .306. Since, it?s plummeted to .271. Now, he?s in danger of losing at bats. To make matters worse, he was recently benched for a lack of hustle. Nothing ?dy-no-mite? about that!

Wishful thinking. He could misfire on a sunflower seed launch, and it would generate a 12 page thread.

Not if when he spit the seed he was spitting it in a way that maximized his chance of hitting its target http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

With all due respect, there is a difference between being a quality fantasy player and being a quality major leaguer. Rotoworld assesses a player's fantasy value.

Although I recognize the lack of hustle was inexcusable, and his benching following that play was warranted. I think Yost got his point accross. If it happens again, I'll be first in line to to encourage the Alex Sanchez treatment. But, I don't think that sort of thing will happen again.

I vote for a Bad Mojo thread. Maybe it's just what this franchise has needed for 12+ seasons. BF.net saves the day!

I have not stopped shuddering since I saw Franklin Stubbs in the 'Stro-Bow jersey...

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
