I don't think Ned was as mad about the call as he is mad about the fact that the 1st base ump made a call that he couldn't have possibly seen with 2 people in his way.

Is that an MLB sanctioned umpire at first base, or is it just a guy they picked up off the streets tonight? He's looked like the latter tonight.

Jenkins hit a dribbler foul down the first base line, but Clark blocked the ump's view, and they guessed at the call wrong, said it was fair, Clark stepped on first, and Ned came out to argue, and the rest is history.

Can you explain "secondary batting average"? Never heard of it.

It's a (quick/easy) way of measuring what a player is contributing on offense independent of his batting average. The basic formula is:

(TB - H + BB + SB - CS) / AB

If Cruz had enough at-bats to qualify, he'd rank in the top 20 in baseball. Everybody else on that list is hitting at least .260 except Adam Dunn (who leads the league in Secondary Average).

Cruz definitely wins the award for most misleading batting average (in a good way).
