In all fairness, Grudzy and taguchi have really been tagging the ball the last couple of weeks.

Would have rather had 3TO hit in the 4th with the bases loaded and 1 out than right now. Back in that inning, even a simple hit scores 2. Now a base hit scores only 1. If he strikes out in the 4th, same result as we had with Magruder batting.

It is so, so difficult to have an intelligent discussion or even an intelligent disagreement when the people refuse to listen to facts. You can disagree with the facts, but to just play games with words is a joke... very unsatisfying discussion naivin.

What a great opportunity wasted. Taking the first game from Morris would have been pretty sweet. And with FLA losing two, the Cubs losing, it would have been nice to be the one WC contender with a win this evening.

Well thanks, Mr. Schroeder - "Tough part of the game here. Just can't give up any more runs" Very heady.

so, let's see. back in st. louis, magruder hits with the tying run on while jenkins rides pine, later to single with nobody on.

today, magruder hits over branyan with the bases loaded, and branyan later hits what would have been a sac fly.

maybe melvin needs to remove the temptation for yost to use magruder in key situations, much like he did with phelps.

Uh, guys? We still have an at bat left.

Right back at ya Slick. It is equally frustrating to try to discuss these things with people who just assume that Russel Branyan would have automatically delivered and things would have somehow turned out different (once the move in question didn't work). For the record he is now 0-12 as a PH, but you're probably right. Since you don't like Ned Yost, it is a completely safe assumption that Russ would have delivered no less than a single in the 4th.

We can argue it because we said it before Magruder got into the box. Other than a couple of you guys, it was the consensus that Branyan should have hit.

Then Magruder hit the ball about 60 ft before it fell just short of the first baseman!!

We were right and you are telling us we were wrong.

BTW, we can argue pinch hitters all night long, especially because none of them came through, but 6 runs (so far), and a starter unable to get out of the 4th inning. That's the reason for this loss.

nobody is saying branyan would have positively delivered. but don't you agree that he would have given us a much better chance at a big inning, or at least 1 run? so how can you defend batting our worst hitter during the best scoring opportunity we saw all night???
