Knowing La Russa, I am surprised he did not pitch fastballs to JJ, then intentionally walk Sheets only to have Mac fail to score the run anyway.

 

Then he will probably have a position player pitch the 8th while pinch-hitting a couple of pitchers in the 9th and still winning the game 1-0 just to rub it in.

I was just about to write that is was a dumb move to bunt, especially when you had MaGruder batting, but... Yost can say after the game that they battled.
