8/19/05 7:05 CT- Brewers (Davis) @ Astros (Astacio) MOJO!

DHarris34Phan

What a big game for the Crew tonight! We need some definite MOJO tonight! Sitting at 60-62 on the season, this game not only helps our chances at a .500 season, but it could help us vault in the Wild Card Race, where we currently are 5 games back.

Doug Davis takes the mound for the Brewers, coming off a huge 5-2 victory over Roger Clemens and the Astros Thursday Night. Davis is coming off a 7 inning, 4 Hit no decision against the Reds at Miller Park on August 14th.

Houston is countering with youngster Exequiel Astacio. Astacio, who boasts a 6.66 ERA, is coming off a decent performance where he went 6 innings, and gave up 7 hits versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. His main problem that day was the HR ball, as the Pirate hitters hit 3 of them.

Hopefully we can get to Mr. Astacio early and often, and let Mr. Sharpie lead us to another big victory! Here is to a big night for the crew!

(Post something mojo!)

Does Astacio have a bad VD or something? That pic looks horrible.

No joke... I seriously thought that the pic of Astacio was a spoof. I thought DHarris cropped a head off one the characters from Planet of the Apes and put it on a pitcher's body.

I can predict one thing that will be for sure tonight: Corey Hart will be starting in CF.

Yost's plan went awry last night with Magruder missing the Golden Sombrero by 1 AB. He proved himself worthy of a spot next to Ned on the bench for the forseeable future. I still ask myself at times what this clown is even doing in a MLB uniform (and why ours?)

With Chris Magruder it is the "Mouton-effect". The Mouton effect is the propensity the Brewers have for giving someone similar to either James or Lyle Mouton (or both) too many starts in the months of August and September.

2005 "Mouton Award Winner" = Chris Magruder

Past winners (Runners up)

2004 - Chris Magruder (Jeff Liefer)

2003 - Mark Smith (Pete Zocollilo)

2002 - Ryan Thompson (Jim Rushford)

2001 - James Mouton (Angel Echavarria)

2000 - James Mouton (Lyle Mouton)

1999 - Lyle Mouton

1998 - Darrin Jackson (Eric Owens)

1997 - Jack Voigt (Todd Dunn)

1996 - Kevin Koslofski

So as you can see, there is a long history of the Brewers starting someone like Magruder in the outfiled late in the year.

2005

vs. Left 16 32 2 9 3 0 0 2 0 5 1 0 .281 .303 .375 .678

vs. Right 73 89 10 16 4 0 2 11 6 25 1 0 .180 .253 .292

2004

vs. Left 22 36 6 12 3 0 2 3 4 4 0 1 .333 .400 .583 .983

vs. Right 44 53 5 9 3 1 0 7 4 17 0 0 .170 .250 .264

Yet, when theres a chance to utilize his slick hitting against a righty, bank on Ned making the call. I'm thinking gruder should stop switch hitting and pick a side. That side seems obvious.

Every team needs a switch hitter, right?

Hmm, looks like from Astacio's game log that he pitched against the Brewers at MP once this year in relief and went 1 inning and gave up 2 HRs? Out of curiousity, anyone recall who they were to?

I checked and Lee, Hall, and Spivey hit homers that game so pick two out of three.

For whatever it's worth, it was Lee and Hall in the 8th. We still went on to lose the game 9-6 though, oh well. I shall be rooting tonight for the Crew to crush him into Minute Maid P-astacio juice tonight with heavy pulp.....

Wow...that was terribly corny....I apologize. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif

I can't believe someone actually said those things. Some of you need to grow up. What if your face looked like that? VD? Think about things before you say them. Seriously, how ignorant.

Go Crew! Let's put up another W. I need Sharpie to net me a victory for my fantasy team tonight. I could go for a 6-1 win with 8 k's.

Besides the 2-3-4 hitters that is not a very impressive lineup...We should win this game, but I am sure that it will be another one of those let's keep it close to the final out. I do expect to see a few long balls by the brewers though. The key will be whether or not D squared can maintain his pitch count.
