See I agree with what naivan said, since there isn't a FSN broadcast, and its TBS not ESPN it should be televised. Also I remember a Brewers vs Cubs game earlier this year that WGN broadcast at Miller Park and that was not blacked out and FSN did not carry that game.

So which team are we going to see tonight/this weekend? The one that took a dump against the Reds and cardinals, or the one that won 4 of 6 against the Mets and Phillies? There is no question they have reached a critical point in the season. September is less than a week away. School starts next week, and football right after that. With a bad weekend, the Brewers really could disappear from sight. Falling back to 3-5 games below .500 at this point could spell and end to the interest that is currently hanging by a thread.

On the other hand, winning 2 of 3 (I won't even mention the S word), probably buys them a few more days to do something big to have people keep paying attention.

One good thing is the fact that everyone will pretty much know where they stand by game time. With Clark coming back and the pending roster move, anyone on the team when the game starts will more than likely be here the rest of the season. I think from a confidence, chemistry standpoint that should be a good thing.

Note to Doug Melvin: Remember the ovations Fielder gets when he comes up to bat when deciding on today's roster move.

It will be Braves vs. Braves as Brewers don Milwaukee Braves unis tonight.

I was recalling the old Braves days recently. I have come to the conclusion that the Braves might have never left Milwaukee if it were not for a really, really bad trade made after the 1960 season.

After a very respectible 88-66 2nd place finish in 1960, management panicked and traded not one but two of the better young pitchers in all of baseball (Joey Jay and Juan Pizarro) to the Reds for SS Roy McMillan, a 31 year old shortstop who had hit .236 the year before.

Jay went on to help the Reds win the pennant in 61 by winning 21 games. Pizarro ended up with the White Sox where he won 61 games over the next 4 seasons.

McMillan hit .220 in 1961, and his arrival prompted the trade of the very popular Johnny Logan. Now Logan was near the end but he was just 2 years older than McMillan.

Had they kept Jay and Pizarro to go with Spahn, Burdette and Buhl, the Braves would have won another pennant in 1961 and fan interest would have been re-kindled. Instead fan support waned, the club was sold and then moved.

Many, many old Braves fans will recall that it was trades like this that cost them fans and ultimately the team.

Just a little history lesson for you young fans to ponder.

I believe it's contractual. I think TMJ is obligated to broadcast the Packers -- preseason or not.

If I'm wrong on that (which I don't think I am), then it would be ratings. And like it or not, the Packers are a cash cow.

Drew and Coshon said on the "D List" that the game would be on TBS. Not to trust what they say, but that is a good sign.

Also, doesn't it make sense to DFA MaGruder and keep Hart and Fielder. They definitely need bats on the bench and team speed. They both are better hitters than Mags and Hart can run, as seen by his SB the other night.

1290 WMCS is the backup I believe for Milwaukee.

That sounds right. Thanks.

We've called the ticket office (their toll free number, since we're not local) on game day before to get (at least) an estimate on whether the roof will be open or closed.

In response to an email I sent the Brewers last year, someone in stadium operations told me that unless it's colder than I think 60 degrees, they pretty much regard the roof as a precipitation shield. So I think the roof status tonight will hinge (pivot? he he) on the precip outlook.

Let's hope that Ben and the Brewers are so awesome tongiht that the media will rue spurning them for wall to wall Pack coverage.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I do not understand however, why the -Milwaukee- Brewers get bumped from their normal radio channel for a pre season -Green Bay- Packer game, especially when the Brewers are still in the WC hunt.

Then, sir, you do not understand Wisconsin. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I understand your frustration. But realistically, look at the ratings...

I beleive if you were the owner of the radio station (Oh, what am I saying, only giant conglomerates own the media anymore), you would make the smart business move and play the football game. We're talking about a team that sells 70,000 tickets to a scrimmage!

are you saying that if Milwaukee is to keep the playoff door realistically open, a sweep of the ATL would do it?

Sheets has thrown 9 innings in 4 of his last 5 for a 3-2 record. impressive, true ace innings, let's just get him the W's

I hope that TBS is not blacked out in Madison, I know WGN isn't, but those are usually sellouts.

Hey everybody, dans back in town.

EDIT: BTW, I'm guessing we lose tonight 1-0 with about ten hits, and take the other two games. Book it. Then I shall come back after we knock off hudson and gloat about my unparalleled genius.

For the third time this season, I am guaranteeing a Brewers win. For the record... I'm 2-0 in my previous two attempts on this board, and not coincidentally Ben Sheets pitched both of those games. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

It will be interesting tonight to see how Brady does. He has had some time off and I wonder if he will go back to taking more pitches or if he will continue to swing for the fences. Conversely I wonder if his dip in OBP has adversely affected Carlos' RBI total? Maybe only partially, as Carlos hasn't had the guys on base, but he has also been brutal in the box. Here's to hoping both things come around tonight.
