Still seeing folks complaining about Gameday..

Brian, would you put a courtesy post or something up to advise that CBSSportsline Gamecenter is the best way to follow the game?

Glad the Crew won.. Just saw that Sheets left the game in the 8th w/ a muscle strain. Hope it isn't too bad.

64-65.. Nice..

Dont panic guys. If Ben strained his lat (thanks Kat) in an at bat, then strained it more... it is not threatening our ace. He got us a win. Good man!

The absolutely worst case is that he cannot pitch in September. But he will be normal Ben next spring. But, to be honest, I can see him missing 2 starts and that is all. (Just guessing, but probably a good guess).

And I thought I knew everything. My spin detector has gone into overdrive with this lat thing, and I smell surgery. I don't know, maybe I have just paid too much attention the injuries of Prior and Wood - where they are just going to "miss a start or two" - 15 starts in a row.

A history of guys (not just Brewers) who are "day to day," or "may mis a start or two" with muscle strains, tendonitis, soreness, etc., only to see them go under the knife a couple weeks later and miss 6-12 months.

You say cluttered, I say compact I guess. And I guess it does auto refresh, but I much prefer the Flash updating of individual components/lines than the whole page reloading and having to move down to wherever I was before.

Anyway..

Was able to catch some of the game including the injury to Sheets, it looked bad at first. It was clear Ben was in serious pain by the way he carried his arm as he left the field. If indeed it is a strained lat muscle, like GPieters in the injury thread, I can attest to the pain that Ben is having. It took me about a week of nothing but rest and soaking hot baths for mine to finally clear up, for the first couple of days lifting my arm was painful and a sneeze or cough caused some of the worst pain I've ever experienced, just brutal. I did notice Ben when he was on the mound kind of bend himself backwards a couple of times like he was trying to pop his back, i know that motion too well. Lets hope its no worse than mine or GPieters and Ben misses a couple of starts at most and comes back to close the season out strong. I hope Ben and management try not to rush back to early though. Like has been stated before, playing for .500 is not worth any further complications due to this injury.

Lord-a-mitey, what a game to be at tonight. I went from awe to shock to fear pretty quickly. The thought I couldn't get out of my mind was, "The season changes right here."

It was Ueck's call that freaked me out the most. He sounded downright worried and I don't like hearing Bob sound worried.

And I swear, I was thinking of those of you posting at home during the injury delay (knowing that many if not most of you would have to rely on gameday, etc. and would be wondering what the heck was going on). I figured the posts had to be as panicky as we were feeling. When will the Brewers install wireless connections at Miller Park so we can bring notebooks and post for the posters reading from home?

By the end of the game, Bob sounded a lot less worried and so was I. There's merit to the speculation that the current strain talk is merely positive spin, but for now we can't do anything about it except wait and hope for better.

The Brewers already survived Ben's dizzy spell absence. I cringe at the thought of Victor returning to the rotation, but there are worse things than losing Ben for the last month of this season.

Switching to happier thoughts: before the injury, Ben was an absolute joy to watch tonight. I felt lucky just to be in the audience.

Except that Ben's turn back the clock uniform did NOT suit him well. The sleeves on his jersey looked like bell bottoms. I know that was the style Back Then, but the sleeves didn't look ridiculously big on anyone else.

The throwback unis did look appropriate on several of the others (Big Wes - who perhaps felt he was "home" again in a Braves jersey; Damian and Chad; and even Turnbow, though he'd need a crew cut to complete the look).

Last question: Did Carlos' HR hit the pole? We lost its arc in the haze and lights, but I saw it land just foul in the seats. Since the umpire signaled HR right away and no one from Atlanta protested, I figured it must have hit the pole - but haven't been able to verify that.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Alright Crew! I was at the Packer Game.. I'm sorry Patriots Game vs. Some High School JV Team Game tonight and all I could think about is if Sheets got the win.

The packs stunk and it rained, but it warms my cold soaked heart that the crew won.

What? You have to refresh? Why?

I use Gamecenter w/ Netscape 7.2 and don't have to refresh at all. In fact I see what is going on pitch by pitch (with the speed mind you).

I have been using CBSSportline's Gamecenter for 2 years now and have NEVER had to refresh.

I think it did...it had to. I was in the way upperdeck along the firstbase line (closer to the plate), so I got a pretty good look at it. When it was in flight, it looked foul all the way, but then tailed towards the pole ala Carlton Fisk. I am still amazed that it was a fair ball.

I was at the game last night and just wanted to convey a little moment that happened in between innings (the 4th or 5th-I can't remember). They showed an old commercial of Bob Uecker where he is essentially just talking and acting like a goofball-I couldn't quite make out what he was saying or if he was selling anything. They showed it as a bit of a segway to tonight's game when we honor him. Anyways, after they showed it, the entire crowd stood and turned toward the 620 booth and gave Bob about a minute long ovation. Bob was raising his hands and waving back to everybody and even did the "I'm not worthy" worship motion back to the fans. Very cool. Just thought I would share.
