Your Milwaukee Brewers will try to make it two in a row when they send out the "Hardworking gritty gamer" Rick Helling to toe the rubber. His mound foe Adam Eaton sports a 9-3 record and a 3.86 ERA in 2005. Eaton is also 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA vs. MIL in 2005.

Players to watch:According to brewers.com Geoff Jenkins is 3 for 9 in his career against Eaton and should be back in the starting lineup.

the bigger question will Prince get a start tonight?

Like the previous poster said, he probably won't even though O hasn't done anything to warrant NOT sitting a day(which he has) or two. What is he, somewhere around 3 for his last 25. If jenkins plays, I think O plays. If not, I think you have every reason to go with fielder batting fifth.

Another question is who comes in after helling gets knocked out after the 4th.

I was thinking santos for his last ha-rah.

I do not get why the Brewers are putting Helling back out on the mound. It didnt work. It wouldnt work. Just cut your losses and end the experiment now. What is telling the Brewers that this is going to work? Is it the 4.11 AAA era. The fact that he is a flyball pitcher. Perhaps, the fact that he has lost his velocity. Or maybe its the vast upside of a 34 year old not a soft tossing left hander. I see NOTHING that says he will have any success. I was in favor of removing him from the Nashville rotation. With that said I wish him the bast of luck.

Having Victor Santos piggyback is a terrible idea. Both JDLR or Eveland would be much better or at least I would have more faith in them. However, Ned wont put them in until the game is already out of reach. Without a doubt the best option is still J DLR 4 innings, Helling 2. But J DLR hasnt pitched since last Saturday, get this guy some consistent work.

Why is Helling starting? It is because managers like veteran arms down the stretch when they feel they have something to play for. They hope to get that one or two last good games left in their arm. We are not the only team to think that way. Most teams will get burned by doing this.

I wonder who will take Helling's next turn in the rotation. I'd prefer anyone on the Brewers 40 man over him, to tell the truth. Hendrickson and Lehr and De La and Capellan are all young enough where they could still end up being servicable starters. Eveland would get rocked, but it would be exciting to see what he could do. Heck, even Santos has pitched well in MLB for stretches over the last 2 years, Helling hasn't. I'm wondering just how committed Yost is to the youth movement when he throws trash like Helling and Magruder out there.

Anyway, go Brewers!

I think Ned likes jorge from the pen. If he could get you 6+ innings a start, I would definitely give him a shot. He needs to stop bailing on that curve leaving it WAYYY up. If he can get that over with relatively the same arm action as the fastball, that's an A++ pitch no doubt. He threw 50 pitches over two innings last outing, but that average would lessen with more innings. If jorge doesn't get innings over the next two, I might actually look for him to start. But has Jorge earned it? Has he really had a shot too? And we all know Ned has no love left for jorge, so the chance is slim. He's used it all on gruder and santos. Once bitten, twice shy, eh Ned.

If he likes him so much out there, why doesnt he use him out there or at least give him a role? Right now it is use him whenever I feel like for whatever I feel like. If Ned Yost is really putting "vet" Rick Helling out there, it has to be because he gives us the best chance to win. I do not see how he comes up with that conclusion though. During his last start I had to shake my head after half of the at bats last game. I do not see it getting any better. Even if for some odd reason that I am unaware of he does give us the best chance to win, developing players right now is as important as winning. Well I maybe in the minority, the only reason that I care about .500 is so I can stop hearing about how important .500 is.

I really hope Prince gets some starts this series. I know there is a lot of support for Overbay, but looking at his stats lately proves he shouldn't be starting everyday with Prince up. Overbay has 5 extra base hits from July 27 on. He has 4 doubles and 1 triple. How pathetic is that from your 3 hole hitter.

It's actually 3 for his last 26 but whenever they mention that kind of stat you know he must be 4-27 or they would have said 3-27. So digging back to where this 3-26 streak happened what happened prior to that.

4-1-2-0 (5-30) .167

4-0-2-1 (7-34) .206

4-0-2-0 (9-3http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif .237

Throw in the six walks in the 10 starts and the tieing walk yesterday O's obp for the last 10 days is .341.

Numbers can be construed to anyone's desire so I like to see how they did the games before the small segment to see how the numbers look away from that point of view.

The Brewers need Overbay to get hot so it will increase his market value. Prince will be here a very long time so imo that is the way the upper brass wants to play this.

So let's get hot O and let's get above .500%

Take note Nedster supporters. Do you really believe he is doing the best for the team by making Fielder the 'rarely used rookie' (that is what sportsline calls him) and start Helling.

I was promised by those close to Ned, that SEPTEMBER would be the month of excitement and that the Nedster would show off the future.

Helling and Overbay start, with Fielder, Hardy, Hart eating peanuts on the bench.

Mabye the future will start tomorrow.
