while some mentioned Fielder's shortcomings at 1b, don't forget that Lyle turns a lot of outs into hits, and bad throws into errors.

 

It seems as though anything hit remotely hard at Lyle will be a hit, either cleanly or off his glove

 

Your perspective has seen a different season and a half than Rich Dauer's view.

 

Interesting how opinions sway observation.

Well the Brewers get a leadoff double, followed by a single, and score no runs.

 

For those guys that say you cannot measure heart or attitude... the Crew is 9th in the NAT in batting (OPS), but 14th in OPS with RISP.

 

Now of course that MEASUREMENT will now be scorned with words like sample size, outlier, within the realms of possiblilty.

 

Well, remember when all the stat heads PROVED we could not win the wildcard as there were too many teams in front of us 10 games ago. Some poor souls tried to say that maybe the teams in front would all beat each other up... well, the teams in front all went things like 5-5 and 6-4 (and there was only one of those) and even 4-6.

 

So, if we would have won 7 out of 10 or even 8, we would have a sniff.

 

I think I should be more quiet and just point out (after the fact) how, amazingly, these truths (one team will make a run) (heart and attitude do not matter) maybe are not so true. It does get tiresome trying to discuss them 'along the way'.

 

I was just thinking, I may declare Vlad and Jenks to be talentwise the same. It is just Vlad has good luck (those home runs falling JUST over the fence), whereas Jenks just has bad luck. That is the same logic - declare something to be true

 

Vlad and Jenks have same talent level

 

then explain away the difference in production with words like 'luck', 'within statistical variation', etc.
