09/15/05 Brewers (Ohka) @ Diamondbacks (Estes) 5:10 CST

He has a lot to overcome before I will consider him a key component of the Milwaukee future. He is not in the league of Weeks, Fielder or Hardy.

And you think you are in the minority for thinking that? I think most realize that he has maybe a 50% chance of being a mlb starter.

Bill Hall OPS at .808. Why is everyone in such a tizzy about 3b in '06 again?

Probably because a few people keep suggesting it will be Branyan playing 3B next year, which would cause a big tizzy.

Obviously if it is Hall/Cirillo...most people's fears would be eased.

[ Bill Hall OPS at .808. Why is everyone in such a tizzy about 3b in '06 again? ]

...because his OPS was .650 the year before.

Don't get me wrong, I want Bill Hall to be on the team next year. I just want him hitting against lefties, where he has an .864 OPS.

He's a nice little player, with a lot of versatility. I don't think he's as bad as 2004, and I don't think he's as good as 2005. If I had to guess, i'd put him at a .775 OPS next year. As long as Branyan can be healthy, I like the Hall/Branyan platoon with perhaps Hall getting some additional AB's against righties when he's hot.

[ that "good little player" ranks 6th in MLB among thirdbasemen in OPS. ]

That's correct. That's how Hall's OPS currently ranks this year.

It was my contention in my earlier post that I don't think Hall's going to post an .808 OPS next year. It's also true that Branyan has a .850 OPS this year. Further than that, it's true that Hall performs better against lefties and Branyan wails on righties.

Did Carlos Beltran run over your dog?

No. He sort of grazed it. The resulting wound developed an infection though. It was allergic to the medication and slipped into a coma. It only responded to the swooshing BONG! sound on "A Current Affair" and I hate that show. Obviously you can see why I hate Beltran now.

If Hart turns out to be a nobody, scoop will say I told you so.

If Hart turns out to be a good player, scoop will say he fixed the problems scoop identified, soon after scoop pointed them out.

He is not in the league of Weeks, Fielder or Hardy.

Who's claiming he is? Very few prospects are...that doesn't mean he's not a good prospect. Some prospects don't work out...but Hart has succeeded in the high minors and that's almost always a good indicator of someone who will have a notable major league career.
