9/9/05 Astros(Clemens) V.S. Brewers(Davis) 7:05 CDT

Our Milwaukee Brewers return home for a three game series aganst the Houston Astros. Tonite the Astros will send there ace Roger Clemens and his 11-6 record and 1.57 ERA in 2005. While the rest of the league has had there trouble aganst Clemens the Brewers got to Clemens in his only appreance aganst the brewers. Facing the Brewers Clemens has a 0-1, 7.11 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers will send Doug Davis to the hill. Davis has been nothing short of awesome this year. With a little more run support we would be looking at a 20 game winner. Davis has a 9-10, 4.06 ERA in 2005 and 1-2, 3.32 ERA vs. HOU in 2005.

Needless to say runs should/could and will be a rariety tonite in this pitcher's matchup

Pitching Matchup

MIL: LHP Doug Davis 9-10, 4.06 ERA

Hou: RHP Roger Clemens 11-6, 1.57 ERA

Player to watch

My players to watch tonite are: Weeks and Jenkins, will Jenkins continue his hot streak and will the two days off help Weeks improve his swing?

Isn't this a direct rematch of last years matchup, and about the same too? If I am not mistaken the score ended up being 1-0 in favor of the astros but it was a dandy of a pitching duel. I also believe that Clemens had the games only RBI. All this information could be inaccurate, but either way I hope to see a great pitchers duel tonight with the Brewers coming out on top.

Prediction:

2-1 Crew

I agree, it is going to be a tough matchup, but also a game to watch. Lets hope Davis keeps up his hot streak and maybe just maybe we can push across a few runs. Because if we can't get to Clemens and he goes 7 innings we have an inning to get to the bullpen before they bring in Lidge!

GO BREWERS!!!!

I was at the game you're talking about... the 1-0 Davis/Clemens matchup. It was indeed a great game, and I'm going to be there tonight as well.

But for some reason I don't think it was last year... unless it was early in the season... it seems so long ago.

Tonight's matchup will be interesting. both pitchers plagued with no run support. Some lucky reliever is going to get the W for this hog.

well if our History of playing well aganist good Pitchers it should be a good series for the Crew ,because can"t get much better than these 3.

and we do we get them again when we go to Houston

Then if that's the case lets call the astros and see if they will give us 5 out of six. Just joking!

I can't believe I have to miss watching this game to go to the library. It is the first weekend of school and I already have a huge project due. I'm going to take my radio with headphones though. I doubt anyone will give me weird looks because I will be the only one there. Stupid School - I quit.

I agree DWBiTM, I wouldn't care if Davis goes 0-0 next year, as long as all 30+ starts end in Brewer wins.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

Since we haven't done this at all this year, let's win this one 1-0. Maybe have Doug hit a HR for the only run!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif Then see the Bow blow them away.

I'll be there by the second inning, my normal RF bleacher seat. Here's hoping to a 1-2-3 inning so I don't miss anything.

Now THAT chart I like! Good stuff there...thanks for digging that up. It pretty much shows that it doesn't matter who is pitching, we don't hit better or worse against anyone. You would at least think there would be a trend upwards the worse a pitchers ERA got. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif

THE SEASON IS ON THE LINE.

Clemens, Oswalt, Pettite are here. Time to rise to the occasion. A sweep brings us right back into the wild card talk. A sweep by Houston crushes our hopes for .500.

12 losing seasons, 2 games under .500. The fans deserve better.

TIME TO MAKE A STATEMENT THIS WEEKEND.

GET THE JOB DONE.

GO BREWERS !!!!!!!!

I am just happy to be excited to watch Brewer baseball on Sept. 9th. It has been too long since we have had weekends with meaningful Brewer, Badger, and Packer (at least for the moment) games.

If we sweep Houston we are back in the wildcard race with still much work and luck required, but at least it is a chance.

2 out of 3, well pretty good and would not eliminate us from our wildcard pipe dreams.

1 out of 3, makes .500 the goal for the season with a good win streak required.

Sweep, ouch, I don't want to think about how this would make me feel. Probably not too bad if they could bounce right back against AZ.

All things considered, it is GREAT to be having these thoughts and dreams about Brewer baseball in Sept.

I agree. That was my goal for this season, so I guess I have to conclude that the season has been a success. Hope we can talk about it a bit longer though. Our playoffs begin tonight.
