JoeH33 dont get all dissapointed this is a young team who just pressed the final 2 games, they remined me of this years Indians they are also a young team and pressed down the stretch, we still had a great season, hey its not a loosing season GREAT SEASON,GUYShttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

Would have been nice to get the win and get that "haven't had a winning season since" thing out of the way, but all in all it was an excellent season. We all know we're on the way up because of what the team did this year. If we pull off a couple of good moves in the offseason, there's no reason for anything but more optimism.

Well, that was a medium sized bowl of crap.

But I can't be disappointed in the season as a whole. Had someone told us in April that the Brewers would flirt with a better than .500 season with two DL stints for Ben Sheets...what would you have said? They were about as good as they were bad. What could be more appropriate than 81-81?

I am particularly excited about 2006, though. (Perhaps starting with the Winter Meeting?)

Let's not be strangers in the off-season.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

This year, I'm happy to settle for:

...provided that for next year, they're on the road to above:

... and I'll be particularly pleased if they raise the payroll by more than:

Okay, I'll admit that a little bit of disappointment is starting to kick in for me. It's starting to hit me now that we did not get #82. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif

in the grand scmem 81 or 82 isnt really that different. It looks like we wont loose our 1st rd pick if melvin signs a class A free agent, so thats good. Pittsbugh is alone in the caterory of most consective loosing seasons. A win today would of been nice, but I am still happy

Thanks for the a great season Brewershttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

in the grand scheme 500 record is above expectations.

the only reason is a bit of a disapointment was we need only 1 victory to have a winning record.

I have to believe listening to Mark today is don"t be suprised to see the Crew keep Overbay. I don"t think the Brewers will make any big trades unless blown away for Overbay.

I have to believe we gotta hope Melvin finds another way to find a waiver wire gem.I think we be able to get at least 1 Free agent.I am not sure if it will be a Pitcher or Hitter.

I think The Brewers do have to upgrade their Bench Big Time

and that where the brewers might be most active.

Melvin and Mark aren't stupid enough to keep Overbay. They aren't going to have Prince go BACK to AAA for 2006 and they aren't going to have Prince and Overbay split duties at 1B in the bigs.

As for being disappointed, come on. 82 wins, 81 wins... whatever. The brewers played well and the young kids look for real. That's all that matters to me.

Looking at the fact that Overbay and Lee put up comparable OPS figures over the season, I have to agree. The difference in their totals is within five or six points.

Simply put, all things being equal, Lee is the more logical trade option, but like Overbay, the Brewers should wait for an offer than blows them away for Lee.

I know this is probably an overreaction to Overbay's play these past few weeks but I honestly will puke if I ever see Mr. OOOOverrated play another game in a Brewer jersey. I'm sick of watching him K or ground out weakly every AB. Let the Fielder Era Begin!!!

All 81 vs. 82 wins does is change verbage in offseason/'06 preseason stories. Writers can still say "no winning seasons since '92." In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal.

81 vs. 80 wins was the big one, and the Brewers got there. For that, the entire organization and its fans should be very pleased with '05.

Can't wait for '06. When's the last time that was the case?

rluzinski,

Howard dominated AAA for the Phillies last year and had a solid Fall League, but the Phillies didn't trade Thome to make room for him. I understand it's different, as Thome is vastly superior to Overbay, but it goes to show that Overbay doesn't have to be traded

Those strike calls on Prince were questionable. They looked pretty well off the outside corner. All in all a good AB by Prince to work the count. Can't wait to see him play the whole year next year. Thanks for keeping the seat warm for him Lyle and good luck to you where ever you end up.

EXCELLENT picture (Overbay w/ sale sign).

You know, today's Aflac Trivia Question was "what was the first year the Brewers finished above .500," and I thought to myself "who gives a crap?" Then I realized that in 5 years, we probably won't give a crap if the Brewers finished above .500 in 2005 or not. Of course, if we don't finish above .500 before then, maybe we'll care, but if we don't finish above .500 in the next 5 years we might have a hard time caring about the Brewers period at that point. They just have too much going for them right now for that to happen.

It's disappointing because we had 2 games to close it out and couldn't, and I once thought the Brewers needed this win from a mental standpoint. But we'll be fine. The offseason will be fun. And next season will hopefully be more fun.
