Just got back from the game. I want to thank Terry (don't know if I should give his screen name) I bought his seats. We were 2nd row right behind the visitors on deck circle.

Around the fifth inning, the family in front of us left, so we moved down to the front row. You -really- need to keep an eye on the ball sitting there- ticks or odd hops come in pretty hot, some lady two rows behind us to our left took one in the melon. Lots of souvenir balls given out to our row. (all kids) the lady to my right had a ball bounce off the dirt, into the bottom half of the railing, off the top of the padding, to the bottom of the railing again and land right in her daughter's glove which was laying on the ground at her feet.

I saw things of a game I've never seen before. We saw into the dugout and caught signs. I could hear some of the on deck hitters cut the air with their practice swings. I saw Benji Molina take a pounding behind the plate: man, that poor dude is gonna be hurting later tonight or tomorrow.

Mary wished Pujols luck in their playoff run and said she thought the cards would win the World Series, but he didn't respond. I told Grudzielanek I wished him well in the playoffs and he looked back at me nodded his head and said "thanks". Cool. Nothing major, but cool. I hope the Cards rep the NL Central well in the playoffs.

I could hear the ump make all the calls, I could really see the pitches come in, and got sight lines and sounds of the game you just don't get in other locations.

For the cost of those seats I half expected to hear better baseball conversation, but it didn't quite happen. Oh well, Mary and I totally appreciated what we had.

My thanks again to Terry.

-I used to have a neat-o signature, but it got erased.

at 6-2.....i bet about 1% of brewer nation thought we even had a chance tonight....i know i thought it was over, damn near turned the radio off at work i was so mad...but then i remembered how unbelievably resilient this team is...and sure enough, came right back with the 4 spot. I know im getting ahead of myself, but this sure seems like the kind of W we need to finally turn the corner and get hot for the final stretch.....but im probably just a fool because we've seen this all year long, beat the staff ace....and then make joe shmoe look like cy young, and all of you bill hall doubters out there....there is NO rational explanation as to why bill hall doesnt start 3rd next year...he was brought up extremely premature 3 years ago....the kid is only 25.

This... was an ugly game.

You sensed that it might be a long night when Cappy walked the leadoff batter. When they batted 'round, it seemed like that was it, game over, the big boys are flexing their muscles.

And then... the Brewers did something they hadn't done before.

They HIT with RUNNERS in SCORING POSITION!

Capuano doubles to tie the game, then the Brewers actually ADVANCED THE RUNNERS in two separate innings, one to get it back to even, and then another to take a three-run lead.

Wise comes in, and you KNEW who was coming in for the ninth.

Is T-Bow now Gagne? I don't think he's gotten to that level yet, but dang, he's close.

Outstanding catch by Billy Hall in the 9th. That was a stretch-it-out-and-go-for-it play, which we needed.

By the way, I take back all the bad things I said about Carlos' defense. The way he backhanded the ball in LF kept the Cards from getting an extra base hit early in the game.

Unexpected turn of events, but a good game.

Some other observations from the cheap seats:

  • Hey! No one told me about the cheerleaders. What's up with that?
  • Good to see that things haven't changed out in the loge bleachers in left... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif The two-fisted slopper was alive and well and wearing a Cubs hat.
  • I actually had someone mistake my Sounds cap (circa 1985) for a Cubs cap. Common mistake, as it's a blue cap with a red bill. However, the "N" on the front gives it away.
  • I missed it with that apparent HBP mid-game... what exactly was the call there?

Guys, I'm having a bit of a thinking problem. I remembered a few theme songs from tonight, like...songs for when a Brewer's player goes to bat, but what is Jenkins? I know Weeks is "Errytime" by Nelly, and Bill Hall is "Put You On The Game" by The Game, but I TOTALLY forget Jenkins.

My thanks again to Terry.

What a game you picked Brewerjamie! I was worried when it was 6-2 but come back after comeback! It is a fun game from those seats. So did you figure out Yost's hit and run signal? Did you figure out the execs in the first row next to the Cards dugout? In the all-star home run contest a few years ago Cal Ripken was sitting next to Ray Liotta who was sitting next to Carlton Fisk. All pretty cool. The one seat to our left is a single and is usually bought by a person that night who generally is a good fan for the other team. That being said there are plenty of families there but the game is a lot of fun to watch from there. Glad you had fun.

I believe that Jenkins' song is "California Love."

As a side note, I would like to thank a handful of Brewerfan.net members for getting me and one of my buddies absolutely hooked on the Cactus League Nachos. We love those things now and now know where all the stands are for them. Anytime you get to eat nachos in a small bowl with a fork, it's a good thing. Thanks for the recommendation.

That was the best game that i have been to in many years. Thank's Rita for coming close to home so i had to come back to Milwaukee for a few days(just kidding i can say that since it looks like Houston missed a major bullet) That home plate ump was awful, he was squeeing Cappy. When the crew went down by 4, i thought it was going to be a long night but they came right back to tie it. The crowd was great last night very loud and into the game, There were maybe 1000 to 1500 st louis fans. i am looking forward to fan apprecation night, hopfully i can win something.

Russell didn't play, but he's "the man comes around" by Johnny Cash.

As a country fan, I appreciated it. In AZ, Kelly Stinnett has perhaps the best walkup song I've ever heard...tell me what you think...Toby Keith's "I'm not as good as I once was". Just hilarious
