in case people didn't catch it, Jim Powell raved about Brewerfan.net throughout the entire top of the 7th. He mentioned how we'll be raving about Mike Jones' performance today. early numbers are Huntsville wins 6-1 with Hart, Hardy, and Gemoll all homering.

He also gave tremendous plugs for the draft section

Because I cannot figure out how to post the box, I will just say that Huntsville won 6-1. Jones's line: 7 IP 5 hits, one earned run, a walk, six strikeouts, and oh yes, a base hit.

Corey Hart, 2-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI

Mike Adams two flawless innings in relief.

So how do I post boxscores?

Toledo (Tigers) 4, Indianapolis 0

Indy Site Game Summary:

INDIANAPOLIS -- The recently hot-hitting Indianapolis Indians offense cooled off on Friday night at the hands of a steady pitching performance from the Toledo Mud Hens (28-30), as the Mud Hens shutout the Tribe 4-0 at Victory Field. Chris Mears and a trio of Mud Hens relievers held the Indians to only three hits, and the Tribe constantly shot themselves in the foot by hitting into a season-high four double-plays.

Mears (2-1) pitched five solid innings allowing only one hit, a one-out single to Keith Luuloa in the fifth inning, and watched as the Toledo offense plated three of its four runs with two outs.

Brant Ust got the Mud Hens offense on the board in the top of the second inning with an RBI single off of Indians starter Ben Ford. Toledo touched Ford (0-1) for three runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings, although Ford struck out seven batters in his first start of the season for the Tribe.

Cody Ross returned from a league suspension by blasting a solo home run, his seventh of the year, off of Ford with two outs in the fifth inning.

Matt Anderson, Eric Eckenstahler, and Fernando Rodney pitched the final four innings allowing only two hits while striking out five Indians batters. Rodney faced only three batters in the ninth inning, striking out all three.

The Indians (23-36) travel to Syracuse on Saturday to open a four-game series with the SkyChiefs. David Manning (3-3, 3.3http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif , the Tribe's Player of the Month for May, with face Mike Smith (4-2, 4.53) in the series opener.

snappersbaseball.com site summary:

On a miserably rainy night at Pohlman Field, the Snappers got the best of the Kane County Cougars and took the four game series three games to one. Courtesy of a three run third, and a six run fourth, Snappers blew open tonights' game. Despite five runs by the cougars, in the middle innings, Snappers hold on for a 12-7 win.

Snappers had five players with two or more hits as they combined for fifteen hits as a team. John Vandenberg had two of those hits, and drove in four runs, including a two run home run in the fourth inning.

Nelson Cruz had his 14th home run with a towering solo shot to left in the fifth inning. He leads the midwest League with fourteen home runs. Back in April, Cruz blasted three home runs, and had eight RBI's at the expense of the Snappers. Jason Baker got the win for the Snappers.

Snappers head to Clinton to take on the Lumberkings for four games before returning home to take on the Lumberkings once again at Pohlman Field, on Thursday, June 12 through Sunday, June 15. That will take the Snappers to the All-Star break, where the Snappers will be represented by Fielder, Wilhelmsen, Sarfate, and Parra.

hdmavs.com site summary:

Danny Kolb threw seven shutout innings as the High Desert Mavericks defeated the Lake Elsinore Storm in the lowest scoring game of the year at Mavericks Stadium, winning 2-1 on Friday night.

Kolb left with the Mavs leading 2-0 after seven before watching the Storm get back into it. After Aaron Dean worked a 1-2-3 eighth inning, his first pitch of the ninth went over the left field wall for a home run for John Benick.

Dean then allowed an infield hit to Joe Gerber and a single to Josh Carter. Justin Gordon was called upon with runners at first and second with no outs to hold a 2-1 lead. Gordon struck out Nick Trzesniak looking then got Marcus Nettles swinging. However, the third strike to Nettles was off the glove of catcher Joel Alvarado, allowing the runners to move up to second and third. Gordon earned his third save of the year by striking out Freddy Guzman on an 0-2 pitch to end the thriller and win it for Kolb. Kolb evened his record at 3-3 and has allowed only one run in his last 13 innings of work.

The Mavs took the lead in the third as Chris Morris picked up a two-out single and scored on a Ralph Santana double. The Mavs made it 2-0 in the sixth, as Jason Belcher hit a ground-rule double with two outs, then scored on an RBI hit by Froilan Villanueva off of Storm starter Mike Thompson (4-3).

Over 3,000 fans were treated not only to a pitcher?s dual, but also a triple play by the Lake Elsinore defense. With the Mavs leading 2-0 in the eighth inning, Dan Boyd and Jason Belcher hit back-to-back singles to lead off the frame. With runners at first and second, Froilan Villanueva hit a looping line drive headed for center field. Storm second baseman Josh Barfield made a tremendous diving back-handed catch for the first out. Dan Boyd, who was running on the pitch was too far off the bag at second, as Barfield stepped on second base for the second out and then lobbed it over to first base to complete the triple play, as Jason Belcher was also too far off the bag.

I got a chance to listen to the Huntsville game last night. I was impressed. Jones was solid as his numbers show. The bats were on. I was impressed with the broadcast. Robert the radio announcer did a good job with only a one man crew. The internet conection was clear. I am going to check out the video.
