USAToday Game Story:

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (Ticker) -- Guye Senjem hit a pinch-hit,

three-run homer to cap a five-run sixth inning as the

Chattanooga Lookouts beat the Huntsville Stars, 9-4. Senjem, who

had knocked in just one run in his previous 24 games, drilled

his sixth home run of the season to give Chattanooga a 7-3 lead.

Creighton Gubanich hit a two-run double earlier in the fifth

inning to turn the Lookouts' 3-2 deficit into a one-run lead.

Stephen Smitherman had three hits and Wilmy Caceres hit a solo

homer for Chattanooga, which had dropped its previous seven

meetings with Huntsville. John Koronka (5-5) allowed three runs

-- two earned -- and six hits in five innings to pick up the

win. Corey Hart hit an RBI single in the first inning and added

a run-scoring double in the third as Huntsville established a

3-0 lead. Luis Martinez (5-4) allowed seven runs and nine hits

in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss, just the Stars' second in

their last nine games.

Starsboxscore.com game summary:

Luis Martinez, coming off a complete-game 11-3 victory over Mobile, pitched perfect through the first three innings, throwing just 24 pitches, before the roof caved in....... In a series marked by comebacks, the Lookouts salvaged a four-game series, and ended a 12-game road trip, by scoring at will in the middle innings, mostly off Luis, who was the unwitting victim of today's sunny weather.

Backing up just a bit to the first inning though, the Stars' Ryan Knox walked to lead it off for the Stars, the 2nd time in this series he has reached in the 1st inning, and just like on Friday, it led to a run........ Dave Krynzel singled to right, sending Knox to third...... J.J. Hardy, on a 2-2 pitch, hit a high fly to center, bringing Knox in....... Krynzel, who stole second as Hardy was at the plate, scored on Corey Hart's single to center to make it 2-0....... Hart was 8-for-13 in this series with 5 runs scored and 4 RBIs. It's hard to believe, but for the first time this season, he drove in a run for the third straight game....... The Stars have scored 11 times in the 1st inning on this 8-game homestand, 6 off Chattanooga........ In the 3rd inning, Dave Krynzel was hit in the back on the first pitch from John Koronka on the numbers, as he was turning to bunt. Koronka attempted to pick him off, catching Krynzel way off base, but in trying to run him down, Creighton Gubanich threw over the head of shortstop Santiago Perez. and Krynzel was safe at second. Hart, once again, came through and drove him in....... With a 3-0 lead and Luis pitching a perfecto, it looked like it would a sweep would be the day's outcome........ But Chattanooga wasted no time in coming back.

Wilmy Caceres turned a walk and a stolen base into a run when Dernell Stenson singled to left-center in the 4th....... Although the first four straight Lookout hitters reached base that inning, two were removed from the basepaths via a failed stolen base attempt and a great stop by J.J. Hardy who turned a sure single into a force play, when he dove for Steve Smitherman's grounder into the hole....... The Lookouts scored in the 5th after Gubanich hit a one-out, 0-1 pitch up the middle for a single, moved to second on Brian Peterson's ground single to left, to third on sacrifice, and home on Andy Beattie's one-hop single to left.

The Lookouts' 5-run 6th inning would never have happened if it were not for a high sun that got in the eyes of right fielder Noochie Varner......... With one out, after Steve Smitherman had a bloop singled to right, Alejandro Diaz hit Martinez's first pitch to shallow right-center, an easy fly ball. But you knew Varner was having trouble when he started to shield his eyes. He stuck out his glove close to the ground, but the ball hit off the webbing and fell. It looked like an error, but it was obvious Noochie was having trouble with the high sun out there, but that opened the floodgates........ After Mike Schramek flied to left with what should have been the 3rd out, Crieighton Gubanich followed with a double to the center field wall and Brian Peterson walked......... Guye Senjem, who had knocked in just one run in his previous 24 games, hit a 2-2 Martinez breaking ball that hung up, and Senjem delivered a no-doubt home run over the third fence in right-center to give the Lookouts a 5-3 lead, a lead that they would never relenquish.

The Stars never got any closer than 7-4 as manager Phillip Wellman went to the bullpen five times in the game........ The loss marked the second time in three starts that Martinez had allowed seven runs. His ERA climbs now to 2.51...... The Stars' magic number, however, shrinks to four as the Barons lost a pair to the Diamond Jaxx. The Stars now travel to Birmingham for a 4-game series. Pedro Liriano (4-6, 2.83) gets the start for the first game at Hoover Met.

hdmavs.com game summary:

The Lake Elsinore Storm took the final two games of the three-game series, beating the High Desert Mavericks by a final score of 12-6 on Sunday afternoon at Mavericks Stadium.

After falling behind 6-3 in the third inning, Lake Elsinore scored the game?s final nine runs, beating the Mavs for a second straight day.

Storm starter Kevin Jarvis, making his third rehab and final rehab start before returning to San Diego, got rocked early, but settled down and didn?t allow a hit in his final four innings of work.

Mark Ernster?s two-run triple in the second inning pulled the Mavs within a run at 3-2. Ernster would score on a groundout by Johnny Raburn to tie the game at 3-3. The Mavs scored three times in the following inning, as Jason Belcher, Froilan Villanueva and Scott Candelaria had three straight RBI hits to give the Mavs a 6-3 lead.

That would be it for the High Desert offense, as Jarvis (2-1) allowed two walks over the next four innings, to pick up his second straight win. He finished the day with seven innings of work, allowing six runs on seven hits.

Mavs starter Chris Saenz (5-5) was roughed up for three in the second and four in the fourth. Saenz allowed four home runs in just three innings of work, including two to Joseph Hastings. Greg Sain put the Storm on the board in the second with his 13th of the year. Hastings followed two outs later, with a two-run blast to give the Storm a 3-0 lead. Trailing 6-3, Josh Carter?s three-run blast tied the game at 6-6. The next man up was Joseph, as he unloaded his second of the game, and fifth of the year, as the Storm took the lead for good, at 7-6. They would go on to add two in the seventh, and three in the ninth to round out the scoring.

Robert Garvin worked the final two innings, to earn his first save of the year for the Storm.

John Benick had four hits and three RBIs to lead a Storm offense that pounded out 12 hits on the day.

The Mavs were led by the three hits of Scott Candelaria, who appeared in his first game in two weeks, after missing time with a pinched nerve in his right hand. Tommy Marx made his Mavs debut and tossed a scoreless eighth inning in relief. Marx didn't allow a hit, picking up a strike out and a hit batter in the inning.

Mavs left fielder Dan Boyd, who made a diving catch in Sunday's game, left the game in the seventh inning with what appeared to be a very serious injury. Boyd will be evaluated on Monday by team doctors to see whether or not his left wrist was broken on the diving catch.

indyindians.com game summary:

Keith Luuloa led the Indianapolis Indians to their seventh win in the last nine games on Sunday evening, a 5-4 defeat of the Syracuse SkyChiefs in the second of a four-game series at Syracuse. Luuloa, who was 4-for-4 with one of three Indians solo homers, drove home Jim Rushford with an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning for the go-ahead run.

Shane Nance (2-4) earned the win for the Indians pitching 1.1 innings issuing only one walk in relief of Tribe starting pitcher Pasqaul Coco.

Doug Jennings, playing in his second game since signing with Indianapolis earlier in the week, got the offense rolling with a one-out solo home run in the top of the first inning off of Syracuse starter Jason Arnold, who gave up three solo shots over six innings. The two teams combined for five home runs in the game, and all five were of the solo variety.

Syracuse scored two runs, including one on a balk, in the third inning off of Indians starter Pasqual Coco. The Tribe then tied the score with three consecutive singles in the top of the fifth. Luuloa, Cody McKay, and Wilton Veras all singled off of Arnold with Luuloa scoring on the Veras single to even the game at 2-2.

With one out in the top of the sixth, Mark Smith launched his fifth home run of the season to left field off of Arnold. Two batters later, Luuloa placed an Arnold changeup in nearly the same spot as the Indians took a 4-2 lead. Then, in the bottom half of the inning Dewayne Wise led off by hitting his seventh homer of the season, and with two outs Rob Ryan took Coco deep for his sixth tying the game at 4-4. Neither starting pitcher lasted beyond the sixth, as both left with no decisions.

Tim Young relieved Arnold in the seventh pitching a scoreless inning before returning to start the eighth. After a one out single by Rushford that extended his hitting streak to nine games, and 18 of his last 19, Scott Cassidy relieved Young and allowed the one-out double to Luuloa scoring Rushford with the deciding run.

Dan Kolb entered in relief of Nance with one out in the bottom of the eighth. Kolb then retired the next five batters he faced, three by strikeout, in pitching 1.2 innings for his third save of the season.

The Indians and SkyChiefs will continue the four-game series on Monday evening when Dave Burba (3-6, 4.70) opposes Syracuse's Doug Linton (1-7,6.60). The Tribe has an off day on Wednesday and will return to Victory Field on Thursday to play the Scranton Red Barons at 7 p.m.
