Link Report for Games of Sunday, July 6th

I'm feeling box score overload so many good things to comment on. One wonders what exactly people meant when they said Gwynn might be even better with a wood bat. I think we know now. It's like we froze Cecil and Tony Sr. in 1993 and have plunked them down at Beloit in 2003. OK so Tony Sr. would have magically gained a couple of steps and lost a few pounds, but those two kids know how to hit. If we can get Lou moving with these guys we might finally have seriously good prospects at every position.

Bill Hall is well over 80 plate appearances into his turn around. His OPS still doesn't scream promote me, but I definitely see Jose Hernandez II a lot of Ks, solid average, good power can play multiple positions. Hopefully he can get back to turning a few more of those doubles into HRs.

Very nice to see Arizona while struggling (not unexpected since these are generally very raw players) having some guys who look ready to contribute more next year.

Colbyjack, what's up with the Reds having their 2003 first round pick Ryan Wagner in AAA already?

Yeah, that is pretty crazy. He has electric stuff, and the Reds claimed that they were going to rush him once they got him in their system. I don't think anyone thought they meant to move him this quickly. Wagner likely will be on the Reds big league club probably within the next month, unless he really hits the wall. I'm not so sure that's a wise idea, as Wagner was used pretty extensively at Houston, even if he was their closer.

I like seeing the Reds doing this because they will then know what they have in this guy, and see if he is worth all the money they have dished out to him. Besides they need to anyways mainly because of necessity of the closer position.
