Link Report for Games of Thursday, August 7th

MassBrew
I agree with Moliterfan's assessment of Baker and Hall. At "Meet the Snappers Night," Hall was introduced as the closer. He never really took hold of that place on the staff. Baker was injured early in the season, but definitely is not a hard thrower. I am sure Baker will repeat Beloit.

On a happier note, this may set the franchise record for most wins by their affiliates in one day, with 7 wins and 1 heart-breaking loss, and excluding the run-happy Arizona League, the combined runs allowed in the other 7 games was 14!

Again, I formally initiate the official "Huntsville double-headers on every scheduled Jeff Housman start day" thread. (I'll come up with a catchier nickname later.)http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif

A variety of comments while supresing my outrage at the lack of an Arizona box score.

1) Gemoll has indeed held his own much like Varner it was something of a surprise promotion. Noochie sounds like he's an exciting defender and Gemoll is apparently pretty solid at first base. I think both have done enough to warrant promotion to AAA next year, they might not have the athletic potential of the other big names, but they have hit a comparable amount, so why not? And for those with longer memories and want proof of how far the farm system has come Brandon Gemoll makes me think of Kevin Barker as a prospect. Barker failed, but he was an OK prospect so Gemoll supporters shouldn't take that as a slight, merely a reflection that our 30th or 40th best prospect is now as good as our first prospect used to be.

Good news that it seems like Judd Richardson and Eric Henderson are over their injuries and can start making progress up the Chain.

Hopefully JM Gold Can join those 2 guys and come back healthy.

Terrible news if Mike Jones has to be shut down but hopefully no Sugery is needed.

Just thought I would update a little info I have. Robbie Wooley pitched 5 innings last night and got his first win. He gave up 1 run and the young Brewers held on to a 8-6 victory. Now what everyone wants to know. Rickie Weeks did not play last night. He went thru the workouts and is expected to play soon.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing... and congratulations to Robbie! Hopefully we'll have a box score soon... I'm sure that will be something you'll want to keep http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif .

Thanks again,

~Bill

Weeks didn't play, fear not.

What's wrong!!!!! If he doesn't play soon, he may never make it to the majors. My god, he's been signed for 3 days and he isn't in a game, he was sent to arizona instead of cooperstown, now we have to agonize when he'll ever get on the field if not ever. Someone please tell us he'll be in the lineup for sure tonight or I may just die.

Maybe we should have a Brewerfan nation poll to see how many members now want Weeks to sit again tonight. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

We would probably have a mass conversion to the Democratic party just to get in on the ballot stuffing. Heck I might even vote against myself. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Speaking of Arizona boxes, the Brewers have told us that was regular SS Gilberto Acosta, and not Beloit's Adam Heether, who was mistakenly listed, at SS for the Arizona kids the other day. Too bad, I was hoping 2002 2nd round pick Josh Murray might have been activated.

The same source "anticipates" that we'll see Rickie Weeks in action tonight.

But that's not a guarantee (my words).

And the source also hasn't seen an Arizona box score from last night. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I just wanted to expound on the comments made about the umpiring crew in ******on. I didn't see the Thursday game, but was there for the rest of the weekend. The home plate umpire for the Thursday/Saturday games was abysmal. I think I have some credibility to comment as a former ten-year softball umpire. He was equally bad on the bases. On Friday, a ground ball hopped over the first baseman and clearly hit inside the line and was called foul. On Saturday, it was pretty much Thursday all over again. Rich Sauveur, the Snappers pitching coach, went out to the mound late in the game. He waited for the umpire to come out so he could provide him with some stock tips(or something like that). On Sunday, he deprived Callix Crabbe of making an out on an outstanding play to his right(called safe when out). Travis Hinton put down a perfect sacrifice bunt late in the game. The first baseman dove to tag him. Travis was called out despite no tag. Though it is hard and sometimes downright frustrating, I guess we have to remind ourselves these guys are also minor leaguers.
