Link Report for Monday 9/8 - Two Deciding Home Games

MassBrew

Monday's Daily Menu :

Game times Central; pitchers subject to change; pre-game audio begins approx. 15 minutes prior to game time listed...

HUNTSVILLE: Game One of the Finals at home on Tuesday; details then...

BELOIT: RHP Dennis Sarfate vs. Clinton (Rangers) at home, 7:00 PM, -- no web audio -- maybe Jim Powell can figure out a way to provide updates during the Brewer broadcast; best-of-three tied at one apiece

HELENA: LHP Carlos Ramirez vs. Billings (Reds) at home, 8:00 PM, best-of-three tied at one apiece

I am very happy to see that the Snaps showed their resiliance and came back to win this series....the next series should be very interesting, as Lansing has excellent pitching, though their O leaves something to be desired (the awesomely named Felix Pie nonwithstanding).

After 6...Billings 3, Helena 2.

Helena squanders opportunities in both the 5th & 6th innings. #9 hitter should be up to leadoff the 7th, so the top of the lineup will have a chance to do some damage next inning.

***I picked up the broadcast late, and even now it's in & out, but from what I can tell, Ty Taubenheim came in with 1 out in the 2nd. Not sure if scheduled starter Carlos Ramirez got hurt or what, or if 2 runs were enough to push him out of the game early.

After 8...Billings 5, Helena 2

Billings adds 2 more runs in the top of the 7th. Their pitcher (sounds like Medlock) is absolutely blowing away the Brewers' batters the past couple of innings.

Nothing like some 9th inning magic...c'mon Helena!

What is so bad about Lansing's offense? They have a .253 team average. The Snappers are only at .260. I'd say that's a pretty even match. They do have some good pitchers but a lot are old for the league or overrated (Andy Sisco.)

I think Beloit wins.

By the way, I did email the Midwest League home office and they said no special arrangements would be made by either Lansing or Beloit (nor the central office) to provide web audio feeds of this series. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

At least the 5:05 Central start times the next two nights will allow for an early announcement of the final score.

Still, a darn shame...

And colby, better you than me on getting the Billings audio feed back after it went out on the Helena game -- must be nice to have a Mac (for once). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Great game for the Snappers. Some notes I made:

Dennis pitched well. Congrats to him....some guy named buddy clocked dennis throwing 102, a season high....I question his accuracy as he was wearing tinfoil and using a nacho chip as a radar gun. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif

2nd inning was all Prince. Top half one out, men on 1st and 2nd.....liner towards right...Prince leaps...makes the grab and then doubles up the runner to end the inning. Bottom half Prince hits a TOWERING shot to right that comes down and hits the right field foul pole for a homer.

3rd inning Gwynn and Prince with rbi singles.

TH had a nice rip in the 4th to right center for a double.

Runner up play of the game in the 6th....Dennis Sarfate picks a guy off first. What made it special was how quickly he did it....he was non chalantly getting ready to step onto the rubber and spins and nails the guy who was a sitting duck.

Unfair play of the game in the 8th.....guy lines a single to center.....bounces once, twice, and tony kneels to stop it and on the third dribble it shoots up off either a hole or a bump or something in center and bounces OVER Tony in center all the way to the wall. Runner on third and Tony charged with an error.

Chas Terni sucks. I know he was a playoff hero but so was Jim Leyritz. The guy made an error in the 8th inning. One out and runner on 3rd. Grounder and a horrible throw to first that pulled Fielder off the bag. Run scores and only one out. Same inning...2 outs runner on 1st. Terni gets a grounder to short again....the throw to Rickie at second.......LOW and to Rickie's weak side so he had to try and backhand it while switching his momentum....lucky to knock it down really. Luckily Hall came in and induced a popout to end it.

Rickie's arm is phenomenal. Now if his bat could heat up say in the next 3 days http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Great game Snappers and congrats on a Western Division Championship...lets add another MWL Championship as well.

Helena loses, 6-2. Congrats to the Brewers on a great season in which they won both the first & 2nd half titles.

And colby, better you than me on getting the Billings audio feed back after it went out on the Helena game -- must be nice to have a Mac (for once).

I'd like to give my Mac the credit, but I think it was just luck. I kept getting booted off, only for the Windows Media Player to take forever re-buffering the feed. It probably went out 2-3 times every 5 minutes.

Nice season by the Helena kids; of course, they would have won this series if not for the injury to this guy:
