bottom of the 6th, 5-0 Indy

Hendrickson has struck out 7 and given up only 3 hits, 2 of which were of the infield variety.

other worthy notes that I've herad, Krynzel 2-4 with a lead off homer and an rbi single, 2 k's looking inbetween those two. And a SB.

Hardy 0-4

Hart was on with a 2B when I tuned in. He scored on a double by Sheldon.

Edit: Hendrickson taken out after giving up a walk. His line:

5.1 IN 3H 0ER (2 on) 2BB 7K

Adams comes in with 2 on 1 out.

Edit #2: Double Play!

Hart grounds into DP. His line for the game thus far

2-3 solo HR, 2B IBB 2 R's RBI

Final: Indianapolis 5, Toledo (Tigers) 2

Indianapolis Game Wrap:

Corey Hart homered and scored twice to lead the Indianapolis Indians past the Toledo Mud Hens, 5-2. The Tribe also got two hits apiece from Dave Krynzel, Chris Magruder and Jeffrey Liefer en route to their eighth win in 11 games this season.

Krynzel led off the game with his second homer of the season, and Hart socked a solo shot in the second inning to pace the Indians to a 2-0 lead. Liefer stroked a one-run double in the fifth, and Scott Sheldon doubled in a run and scored in the sixth as Indianapolis extended its lead to 5-0.

Indians' starter Ben Hendrickson (2-0) allowed just three hits and two runs over 5 1/3rd innings to pick up the win. Brian Bowles notched his first save of the season.

Toledo starter Andy Van Hekken (0-2) was throttled for seven hits, two walks and five runs over 5 1/3rd innings. Eric Owens was 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead Toledo's (5-9) offensive attack.

Indianapolis Box Score:

Don't we all feel like proud Brewerfan dads -- Hendrickson, Krynzel, and Hart tonight -- J.J. most other nights, all AAA kids we've followed so closely...

The completion of the first game will take place in Huntsville on Saturday, May 1st beginning at 6:05 p.m.

I take it that the Stars will be visitors in their home park for the first game. Gotta love Minor League ball.

Beloit Game Summary from the Lugnuts' Site:

LANSING - Billy Petrick led the way for the Lugnuts (9-5) pitching staff as they shut out Beloit (5-9) 2-0 for their third straight win and second shutout of the season.

Lansing got the Thirsty Thursday fans excited in the 2nd inning when Kevin Collins took Snappers pitcher Greg Kloosterman deep over the centerfield wall for his team-leading fourth homerun of the season for the 1-0 lead. Collins finished 2-for-2 and marked the third straight game in which a Lugnut batter has belted a homerun.

It would be enough support for Petrick (2-0), who went six innings scattering five hits and striking out two. Clay Rapada pitched a scoreless 7th before Juan Mateo got out of a jam in the 8th. Vinny Rottino got on base for Beloit with a single and moved to third on Adam Heether's base hit. Trailing by a run with two outs, Drew Anderson hit what would have been the game-tying single but the ball hit Heether running from first base for the third out of the inning, leaving the Snappers scoreless.

The Lugnuts picked up an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th. Drew Larsen knocked his second double of the game to left field and reached third on Chris Walker's sacrifice bunt. Robinson Chirinos came through with the RBI single to left to score Larsen for the two-run lead. Larsen was 2-for-3 on the night with two doubles and a run scored.

Adalberto Mendez finished off the Snappers in the 9th inning for the shutout win and his sixth save of the season. Mendez is now tied for the league lead in saves. Kloosterman (1-1) took his first loss going seven innings, giving up one earned run with eight strikeouts and no walks.

The Lugnuts try for the series sweep over Beloit Friday night, as Lansing's Randy Wells faces the Snappers Luis Pena. Game time is set for 5:05 p.m Central.

High Desert audio available shortly -- only show in town during the late night this evening...

Mavs' announcer Roxy Bernstein with the news that CF Kennard Bibbs is out of tonight's starting lineup. He was hit below the knee by a wayward fungo bat during warm-ups. Extent of the injury is not known at this time. Not only ironic because Bibbs hit his first pro HR last night, but he's also Roxy's guest for the pre-game show (before the injury).
