Link Report for 4/29 -- Bathroom Humor? 3 losses by 36-3

MassBrew

Is it just me, or is Rickie getting plunked a lot?

At least four times already. Either Rickie was hanging out too much with Keith Ginter this spring training (Keith was plunked 17 times in ONLY 358 ABs last year), or the Huntsville pitchers need to protect the Huntsville hitters better.

Good grief, whatever happened to the good ol' chin music?

Indianapolis Star on Jeff Liefer's Thursday Night Fun:

Blame delay of game on Liefer's relief work

Indians wait 15 minutes for 1st baseman when he gets stuck in bathroom

By Jeff Rabjohns

The Indianapolis Indians were taking the field for the fourth inning during Thursday night's game against Louisville when Tribe manager Cecil Cooper noticed he didn't see first baseman Jeff Liefer.

"Then somebody yelled, 'He's locked in the john,' " Cooper said.

There was Liefer, who spent parts of five seasons in the major leagues, stuck in the bathroom behind the home dugout at Victory Field.

With the help of tools passed through an air vent, Liefer was eventually freed, but the incident caused a 15-minute delay in the Indians' 9-0 loss.

"I flushed the toilet, went to open the door and the handle didn't work," Liefer said.

He didn't have to yell for help because teammate Matt Erickson, who was waiting to use the bathroom next, heard Liefer jiggling the door handle. Erickson pounded on the door with his shoulder but got nowhere.

The vent, located about a foot above the door, was then pried open and Liefer was handed a wrench. He got the handle off, but the bolt wouldn't turn.

"So I was just sitting there with a door with no handle," he said.

He eventually was handed a hammer and chisel and knocked the hinges off the door.

"When I went back out there (on the field), the other team was messing with me a little, throwing toilet paper on the field," said Liefer, who went 0-for-3 in the game.

"I don't think I've seen anything as funny as that," Cooper said. "I can't tell you what it comes close to. That's the funniest thing I've ever seen."

Liefer rebounded nicely Friday, tying the franchise record with six RBIs in an 8-6 Tribe victory over Toledo.

And the very next night this would happen --

Liefer says "Lock THIS in the bathroom!!!"
