So, here's the daily question....Who's supplying the updates this afternoon on the Indy game? Anyone able to listen to the game today and give a few updates? Thanks.

Ahhh, looks like Luke is the lucky winner today!

Doug Melvin is on the air with Indy broadcasters.

Edit: Melvin said he is happy with the season the Brewers are having so far. "Never give up" is the theme- especially after the 2 wins against the Reds last week, that he called "Thrill Bill 1" and "Thrill Bill 2." Players have a lot of confidence in Yost- his hard work and positive outlook have created a lot of chemistry.

That's all I got from that- nothing much more than we haven't heard before I guess.

Edit: More Melvin- Capuano needs another week. Pitching he'd be fine, but has problems fielding and running. Indy has more young prospects than most AAA teams.

Lost the feed for a bit and now Melvin is gone.

As for the game, top of 3rd, no score.

Former Brewer Jose Valentin on injury rehab is playing for Charlotte. Phelps just struck him out.

The Brewers face his brother Javier tonight in Cincinnati.

Indians score in the 6th on 3 hits when Mark Johnson singles in Hardy from 3rd. Nunnally then hit into a DP to end the inning. They are still trailing 3-1.

Is Chris Coste injured? He left the game early.

Hardy just singled in the 8th for his 4th single of the game. The Knights go to the bullpen for Kelly Wunsch, also on rehab assignment. Reichart has pitched the last couple innings for Indy.

Jason Childers gives up another run in the top of the 9th, so the Indians go to the bottom of the 9th down by 3.

Edit: And it's over, final score 4-1 Charlotte. Indians left a few on base in this one.

JJ's line for the season.....

.280/.310/.473

Of course, you want to see more walks..and a higher obp..and i'm sure that will come...but that's a good line from a shortstop...young for the league...in his first month at AAA

Final: Beloit 9, Wisconsin (Mariners) 8

Kind of a mess of a game, with 14 combined walks, seven combined errors -- a HR from Agustin Septimo? If you're going to play a game like this, you may as well win, huh?

Indianapolis Game Summary:

The Charlotte Knights again used effective pitching and timely hitting to shut down the Indianapolis Indians Wednesday, 4-1, in front of 4,624 at Victory Field.

Knights starter Felix Diaz, who pitched 7.1 innings, gave up eight hits and one run, walked one and struck out two to earn his fifth win of the season. Indians starter Travis Phelps pitched five innings and struck out six, but allowed four walks and three runs on five hits. Phelps drops to 1-1.

After playing three scoreless innings, Charlotte scored three runs in the top of the fourth, keyed by shortstop Bobby Smith?s two-out, two-run home run to left field. Left fielder Mario Valenzuela singled home Mike Bell for the third run of the inning.

The Indians tried to mount a rally in the sixth inning. J. J. Hardy, who went 4-4 today, led off the inning with a single to right field, advancing on Chris Magruder?s infield single, taking third on a fielder?s choice and scoring on Mark Johnson?s bloop single to center. The RBI was Johnson?s first of the season (his 47th at-bat). However, Jon Nunnally ground into a double play, stranding two runners.

In the ninth, Charlotte added another run when catcher Jonathan Aceves scored from first on Bryant Nelson?s double off the wall in right-center. Knights closer Gary Majewski walked the leadoff batter in the ninth, then got Corey Hart to fly out and induced a game-ending double play to earn his fourth save of the year.

This marks the first time this season that the Indians have dropped consecutive games. The Indians and Knights will play the third of a four-game series in Indianapolis Thursday at 7 p.m.

In progress: High Desert 8, Lake Elsinore (Padres) 2, after four innings at Friendly Mavericks Stadium

The Mavericks are truly a respectable bunch this season; now let's not turn this into another nailbiter...

Yeah, MB, I was just telling the wife tonight that I thought 11-15 was very respectable for a team that, for the most part, is devoid of prospects. It's nice to see Hinton adjusting well to life at 1B.

As far as my beloved Snappers are concerned, what is up with the pitching staff? Good gracious, is Kloosterman turning into a left-handed Carpenter? His last two starts have been abysmal to be kind. I would much rather see a guy get HIT, than walk numerous batters. The upcoming homestand features the top two teams in the standings and they need to do well against at least one of them to have a shot at a first-half playoff spot. No time like the present to start getting things shored up.
