Somebody said something the other day about needing pajama uniforms for an early game. Is Huntsville wearing them today for their 6 AM game?

Let's not get into name calling here. I enjoy most sarcasm here, but I am baffled (if not offended) by your comment, presumably about Massbrew. Not one regular here talks about the creators and managers of this site as being restricting, yet your choice of words makes it sound as though they are totalitarian rulers who ridicule all who think differently. If you were poking fun, I apologize, but I for one am greatful each day to wake up and find all of our minor league information neatly bundled together by Massbrew and the others. While we all get in disputes on here, and we often have favorite targets for our quips, I tend to think it is polite to differentiate between joking with eachother and making it sound like we're being restricted by the always helpful staff.

Now that I've said that, I'm fully expecting Kat to mention Squarepusher's constant attempts to oppress him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Does Huntsville face Greg Miller in that series?

I'm pretty sure Miller is out until at least June after having exploratory shoulder surgery in spring training.

And don't you know it, just when Toby himself starts to wonder what JJ is doing, he goes on a 2-game tear http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif . Rickie must be next...

It sure would help if Belcher, Gwynn, Cruz, Nelson, etc would start playing well. And I'd also like to see Sarfarte start having more success, but I guess it is a big jump. Still, where did the strikeouts go? Oh well, plenty of time left this year

Big, big start 2003 7th round RHP Brian Montalbo...

The Wisconsin Timber Rattler defense was charged with five errors in a 5-2 loss to the Beloit Snappers Thursday night. Of Beloit's five runs, only two were earned. Beloit right fielder Vinny Rottino broke a 1-1 tie with a solo homer in the fourth. Brian Montalbo was the winning pitcher for the Snappers. He gave up just two hits and one run in seven innings.

It's 19-3 now. 20 hits for Indy.

.514 is a pretty nice SLG% for a guy who we were led to believe would never hit the ball out of the infield!

GOOOOOOO VINNY!

Ya gotta love rooting for this guy.

You knew this would be fun, but you didn't know Mike Adams (he of the 30-to-2 K/BB ratio) would be starting -- hey Mike, you'll be in Milwaukee before the month's out; J.J. and Corey go deep among others; no errors -- perfect night...

In progress: Lake Elsinore (Padres) 6, High Desert 4, after four innings

Dan Boyd with his second HR of the series, Travis Hinton tied for the league lead in doubles, and Ozzie Chavez has been completely on fire since I called him out two weeks ago http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ; might as well listen in -- shaping up as a barn-burner...

We'll here more on this in the morning -- do you really want to make Prince mad?

Benches cleared twice in the eighth inning: After Jacksonville's Tony Socarras was hit in the helmet by Brian Adams? breaking ball and then again after Socarras slid hard to break up a double play. Socarras was ejected from the game and a scathing Prince Fielder was restrained by teammates.

Matt Erickson 4-5 with a walk a and a SB......the total shellacking was done initially vs. starter Dan Wright, who was in the majors until last week......

Again, I have to ask....Where are all the Indy backers....this team has to be a joy to regularly follow in Indy.

Huntsville Site Game Summary:

Fireworks are planned after Friday?s game, but the Stars? four-game series in Jacksonville opened with a loud bang Thursday night. The benches cleared twice in the eighth, with players and coaches exchanging heated words. Two batters were plunked ? one for each team ? and Jacksonville?s Tony Socarras was ejected for an aggressive takeout slide at second. The Suns (18-9) rallied from 1-0 down for a lopsided 7-2 win over Huntsville (14-13) at the Baseball Grounds, and the eighth-inning confrontation makes this eagerly anticipated match-up of division leaders even more compelling.

With his team in front 7-2 in the eighth, Jacksonville reliever Nate Ruhl hit Rickie Weeks in the back just below the collar. Then in the bottom of the inning, Stars lefty Brian Adams threw a pitch that glanced off the helmet of Socarras. Socarras took a few steps toward the mound and Stars catcher Kade Johnson restrained him, emptying both benches and bullpens. Cooler heads prevailed, and Wilkin Ruan batted with a runner at first and one out.

Ruan followed with a chopper to second, where Weeks fielded and fed Stars shortstop Enrique Cruz. As Cruz threw to first, Socarras wiped him out with an aggressive slide. Base umpire Garrett Watson ruled Socarras slid too far from the bag and called Ruan out at first. As Socarras walked back toward the Suns? dugout, members of the Stars? infield followed him, and both benches and bullpens again cleared. Several players and coaches had to be restrained, and Socarras was ejected from the game. Though no fisticuffs occurred, the stage is set for a hotly contested and entertaining series.

Kade Johnson?s sixth-inning double scored Weeks for a 1-0 Huntsville lead, but Jacksonville quickly responded. In the bottom of the sixth, Suns Jessie Hoorelbeke and Willy Aybar led off with back-to-back solo homers. In the seventh, Jason Repko?s one-out single plated two runs, then after Repko was picked off first, Cruz?s throwing error allowed Hoorelbeke to reach. Aybar drew a walk, Brennan King doubled in two runs and Derek Michaelis singled home King for a 7-1 Suns lead. Star Brad Nelson closed the scoring with run-scoring single in the eighth.

Ryan Ketchner (3-0) picked up the win, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings. Tim Bausher (1-3) suffered the loss, permitting only two runs ? the Hoorelbeke and Aybar homers ? on seven hits and one walk while fanning a season-high seven over 5 2/3 innings, his longest outing this year.

Stars righty Dennis Sarfate (1-1, 6.60) meets Suns lefty Glenn Bott (1-2, 2.86) in game two Friday night at the Baseball Grounds. Game time is 6:35 p.m. CT.
