Link Report for Games of Thursday, May 13th

Thursday's Daily Menu; an exciting collection of pitchers to choose from; Beloit has a daytime twinbill, but most ears will be listening to the goings-on at Miller Park, but no excuses for missing the evening action...

All times Central; pitchers subject to change; pre-game audio begins approx. 15 minutes prior to game time listed...

INDIANAPOLIS: RHP Ben Hendrickson at Rochester (Twins), 6:05 PM

HUNTSVILLE: LHP Jeff Housman at Mobile (Padres), 7:05 PM

HIGH DESERT: LHP Manny Parra at Inland Empire (Mariners), 9:10 PM

BELOIT: RHP Brian Montalbo and TBD in a doubleheader at home vs. Cedar Rapids (Angels), 11:00 AM; Montalbo's been as hot as any organizational pitcher over the last two weeks; five days ago, it was Eveland relieving Moreira, so I'm guessing it may be Dana's turn to start in Game Two...

If Eveland does in fact go in game 2, that's perhaps the most appetizing Daily Menu in recent memory. Now if only we can get De La Rosa, Jones, Sarfarte, and Neugebauer all throwing on the same day some how (heck, I'd be satisfied with all of them throwing, period)

The question will all want to know has the alien left Housman's body? Will he continue his streak of 9 K games? Did we somehow steal the essence of Randy Johnson in a mutagenic baseball and give it to Jeff?

Beloit is apparently down 5-0 after 1 inning.

Edit: 5 more in the 4th for Cedar Rapids, they are up 10-0 in the 5th.

Edit: Good grief! Another 5-spot in the 6th following a 5th inning run, and Beloit is down 16-0 in the 7th.

It's unbelievable. Cedar Rapids has its fourth 5-run inning of the day, and has jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 3 innings of the second game of the doubleheader.

Edit: Obviously sportsnetwork.com was acting up and this information is wrong. Sorry about that.

There have been no more updates on the Beloit game. I wonder if it is delayed by rain. I don't know pitchers or much in the way of details, just getting updates from sportsnetwork.com today.

The Red Wings scored the only run of the game on a solo home run from Brandon Marsters off Ben Hendrickson in the home fifth. Marsters hit a 3-2 pitch with one out over the left field wall which proved to be the game winner.

Gassner is now 5-1, Hendrickson is 3-2.

The Indians road record falls to 10-6. They are 2-3 on this current eight-game roadtrip.

TRIBE HIT PARADE:

Ryan Knox, 1-4, 2 K

Matt Erickson, 1-3, 2B

Steve Scarborough, 1-3

TRIBE HILL TOPPERS:

Ben Hendrickson, 5.1 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 1 SO

Dan Reichert, 2.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB

QUOTES:

Red Wings catcher Brandon Marsters on his game winning home run:

?I don?t think that he (Hendrickson) wanted to walk me,? said Marsters. ?The pitch was a little elevated in the zone and it got out of the park. I was just looking to make contact, that?s all.?

Marsters on Gassner?s pitching performance:

?He spotted the ball well all night,? Marsters said. ?He keep their hitters off balance and made a couple of mistakes, but he had great composure tonight. Gassner was calm and collected the whole game.

NOTES:

Indianapolis was shut out for only the second time this season.

Steve Scarborough extended his hitting streak to seven games.

The Indians have scored just one run in Hendrickson?s last two starts. The three-hit total was the lowest of the season for Indianapolis.

Tribe pitching entered the contest second in the league in ERA at 3.76. Dan Reichert leads the league in ERA at 0.95, including tonight?s appearance.

Rochester meets Indianapolis Friday night and sends RHP Pete Munro (4-2, 2.93) against Tribe RHP Pedro Liriano (2-1, 4.80).

Indianapolis Box Score

Only three hits all together. Good to see Hart back in the line-up a little rusty tho going 0-3...

Looks like Hortonville, WI (near Appl*ton) native Dave Gassner got the victory over Indianapolis tonight. Now has an ERA of ~2 and is 5-1 on the season. Nice to see a local guy prosper.

Wow. What happened to the Snappers today? At least Cap'n Lou had 2 of the 7 total hits today. And while Eveland had a bad game, it's nice to know that his ERA is still under 4.00.

C'mon Manny, we need some good news on the minor league level...

In progress: Inland Empire 4, High Desert 1, after five innings

Manny Parra's final line according to the 66'ers announcer -- 4 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 4 BB, 0 K, although while listening, I could have sworn I heard him K one batter.

LHP Craig Breslow immediately lost the lead in the fifth -- a catcher's interference call leading off the inning didn't help, but that's no excuse for a four-run inning. I hate to see New England kids struggle, but Craig's had a more-than-tough spring. OK, a really bad spring...

High Desert batters have struck out 37 times (and counting) and drawn one walk in this series. Oh my gawd...

And there is no more irritating thing in minor league baseball than the Inland Empire foghorn for every run scored. Tonight's bases-loaded triple was particularly annoying http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
