Kind of a disappointing day today. No Parra, Hendrickson, De La Rossa, Woolard, Eveland, Martin, Sarfarte, Ford, Jones, etc. Heck, even no Liriano.

I can't wait till July when hopefully Ford, Jones, Neugebauer, and Diggins might all be back on the mound, to go along w/our first round pick

Snappers take a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning on a 2-run HR by Heether.

Edit: Cougars tie the game on a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 1st.

Edit: Snappers trail 3-2 after giving up a solo HR in the 3rd.

No problem here picking up the Stars feed. Not their normal announcer however. The Stars trial 2-0 in the top of the fourth wiith the Jaxs having guys on 1st and 3rd with 0 outs. Again the bats seem to be silent in Huntsville. What gives with the hitters on this team? I will update as often as possible.

Beloit is still trailing 3-2, after 4. Snapper batters have struck out 9 times in 4 innings.

Edit: It is now 4-2 after Kane County hits another solo HR in the 7th.

Edit: Stetter came in to pitch the 8th. Going to the 9th still down by 2.

Robert Portnoy called it a "season-defining win" and was obviously very excited. He also mentioned after Prince's rocket double to center leading off the ninth that he feels the big guy is back and is starting to tear the cover off the ball again. Weeks was a late scratch, still bothered by that foot injury, but he came up with a big pinch-hit walk. Brad Nelson is still raking, and it's great to see.

EDIT: Also, Gwynn has been having some fantastic at-bats and Shelley pitched really well after struggling his first time out. His split-change, which baffled hitters last season, was described as filthy and hopefully he can build on this outing.

Great win!

Final: Kane County (A's) 4, Beloit 2

Three losses after the seven consecutive wins...

Beloit Game Summary from the Cougars' Site:

The Kane County Cougars beat the Beloit Snappers for the fourth straight time 4?2 Tuesday afternoon at Elfstrom Stadium. Steve Bondurant gave up an early home run but settled down to win again, while the Cougars blasted three home runs on the day to stay in first place in the Western division standings.

The Snappers (24?21) jumped to the lead in the first inning when Adam Heether hit a two run home run over the left field wall to take a 2?0 advantage.

The Cougars would tie the game in the bottom of the inning on another two run homer, this time by Brian Snyder over the right-center field wall to tie the game at 2?2.

Kane County (28?16) would play long ball again in the third inning when Luke Appert blasted his fourth home run of the season to take a 3?2 lead.

The Cougars would add to the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning when Nick Rogers hit his first homer of the year, a solo shot to make it a 4?2 game.

The Cougars will face the Snappers in game three of the four game set Wednesday night in a 6:00 p.m. contest at Elfstrom Stadium. The Midwest League leader in strikeouts Brad Knox will take the mound while the Snappers will counter with left-hander Dana Eveland.

High Desert Pre-Game Notes:

By the way, the Ports are starting Jose Garcia tonight, but it's not the former Brewer farmhand and Power 50 member.

TONIGHT: The Mavericks open up a three-game series with the Stockton Ports (Rangers). It?s the first meeting of the season for these two teams and the Ports only visit to Mavericks Stadium. High Desert is 1-2 against the Northern Division so far this season. The Mavericks have won two straight for the first time since May 4th and 5th when they won two from Lake Elsinore. High Desert has not won three in a row this season.

LAST NIGHT: Troy Farnsworth clobbered a grand slam, the first of the season for the Mavericks, lifting High Desert to a 6-3 win over the Storm. It was the Mavs second road win in a row, only done once previously this season. Manny Parra worked five and a third innings for his first win and Homero Rivera fired a scoreless ninth for his first save. Dan Boyd scored two runs, Froilan Villanueva had an RBI double and scored a run, but Callix Crabbe?s 11-game hitting streak came to an end, tying the Mavericks longest hitting streak of the season.

SPEED DEMONS: High Desert stole another base last night, improving their California League leading total to 66. Chris Morris is second in the league lead with 22 steals, despite missing the last 17 games, Kennard Bibbs is tied for fourth with 15 and Crabbe is sixth with 14.

ON DECK: The Mavs are in the midst of a stretch where they play 13 out of 16 games on the road. After this brief three-game home series with Stockton, High Desert hits the road for nine straight starting with three over the weekend at Inland Empire. After an off day Monday, they travel to Modesto for three and then conclude the trip with three at Visalia.

Huntsville Game Summary:

A win like Tuesday?s can be a springboard for success. The Stars trailed 6-0 into the bottom of the seventh. Despite stranding 11 baserunners from the fifth through the eighth ? three straight innings ended with the bases loaded ? Huntsville was still in the game. Still down by three in the ninth, Chris Barnwell rescued the Stars, slamming a three-run homer to tie the game. Minutes later, Ozzie Chavez singled home Joel Alvarado for a walk-off win over Jacksonville, 7-6, at Joe Davis Stadium. Huntsville pulled within two games of first in the Southern League West, pending the outcome of leader West Tenn?s game versus Mobile.

The comeback began in the seventh when Chavez walked with two outs. Pitcher Jason Shelley reached when his hot two-hopper skipped past second baseman Willie Aybar for an error. Johnny Raburn walked to load the bases, and Tony Gwynn Jr. delivered his third hit of the game, a two-run single to left. After Prince Fielder?s walk loaded the bases again, Brad Nelson lined out to third to end the inning.

In the eighth, Jason Belcher led off with a single and took second on Alvarado?s one-out single. After Chavez lined out deep to right, pinch-hitter Rickie Weeks walked to load the bases. Raburn walked for the second straight frame, scoring Belcher to cut the Suns? lead to 6-3. Gwynn hit into a force at third to squelch the threat.

Finally in the ninth, Huntsville attacked Suns closer Yhency Brazoban. Fielder led off with a double deep to left-center, and one out later Belcher singled to left. Barnwell stepped up as the tying run, and promptly hit a line-smash over the wall in the leftfield corner, his second homer this season, to tie the game, 6-6. Barnwell?s 24 runs batted in rank third behind only Fielder and Nelson on the Stars? roster.

Following the Barnwell blast, Alvarado walked on five pitches. Brazoban uncorked a wild pitch that caromed off catcher Edwin Bellorin toward the first-base dugout. Alvarado reached third with a headfirst dive, just beating Bellorin?s throw from behind the on-deck circle. On a 2-2 pitch from Brazoban, Chavez singled to left-center, the ball glancing off Wilkin Ruan?s glove as he chased into the alley from center.

Fernando Rijo (1-2) grabbed his first win after fanning one in a scoreless and hitless ninth. Brazoban (3-2) suffered his second loss, surrendering four runs on four hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning.

Huntsville rests Wednesday and opens a four-game series on Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium against the Mobile Bay Bears, Stars when right-hander Tim Bausher (1-4, 2.89) meets Bears righty Chris Rojas (3-3, 4.73). Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Indianapolis Post-Game Notes:

Brandon Gemoll hit his first Triple-A home run for Indianapolis Tuesday night, but Pawtucket found more power to defeat the visiting Indians, 9-2.

The win broke a six-game losing streak for Pawtucket and snapped a three-game win streak for Indianapolis. Pawtucket improves to 24-22, while Indianapolis falls to 25-18.

Frank Castillo (3-1) allowed just six hits over seven innings, including Gemoll?s homer, to secure the victory. Adrian Hernandez (0-1) picked up the loss for Indianapolis. He pitched five innings, gave up three runs on six hits, walked two and struck out four.

QUOTES: Earl Snyder, third baseman, Pawtucket on hitting against Adrian Hernandez:

?The extra base hit that I had early in the game, I really didn?t know whether I hit it hard enough to get away from the center fielder,? said Snyder. ?Hernandez was pitching well. He made me look silly a couple of times, but I got a couple of pitches that I could hit and got a bit lucky.?

Cecil Cooper, Indians manager on the loss:

?We played a little sluggish tonight,? Cooper said. ?We didn?t do much pre-game work this evening because of the travel. Once we fell behind, it was hard to play up hill. I thought that Hernandez pitched well after his early troubles. We?ll bounce back.?

NOTES:

Indianapolis is 3-6 against IL North Division opposition this year.

The Tribe is 9-11 when the opponent has more than 10 hits in a game.

Indianapolis is 11-9 on the road.

Luis Figueroa has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games and now has a team-high 12-game hitting streak.

Scott Sheldon hit his third home run of the season (solo, ninth inning).

Pawtucket is 19-4 when leading after five innings. The PawSox lead the IL in home runs with 67. Indianapolis has hit 37 homers.

The loss for Indianapolis cuts the division lead to one game over Columbus who has won six games in a row. The Tribe has been in first place since the opening game at Norfolk on April 8.
