exciting 4th of July with both Saenz and Hendrickson going today. Also, with Obermueller once again collapsing after several solid innings AND the schedule finally allowing for a regular turn for a 5th starter soon, it seems likely he'll be down in Indy for only a few more starts, and will be recalled to pitch on the 19th. (when we have 18 game days in a row). Obermueller would only be making 1 more start before going down in that plan. Ben could be sent down in early August when the team has 4 days off, or else the entire rotation could pitch on 5 days rest at times (since most are young arms).

this may be more related to the major league forum, but why doesnt NED LEARN when dealing with Obie? He should have just taken hm out after gettting 5 strong. Every single start its the same thing, almost. Obie goes about 5 and then gets smoked in the 6th. If Ned would pull him after the 5th his ERA would be lower and his CONFIDENCE would be higher. IMO!

Well either way I think it is safe to say that Obie has had plenty of chances now and should have a very short leash if he does start any more games. I can't see Hendrickson being any worse than Wes is right now.

Also I am sure Ned was trying to save the bullpen as much as he could after the DH the day before.

Ho, hum... another dominant performance from Little Ben. I'm sure glad he's still at Triple-A, 'cause he so much to learn about getting outs and preventing runs.

Oh wait. No, he doesn't. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

In progress: Rancho Cucamonga (Angels) 1, High Desert 1, after two innings

Online late tonight? Give the Mavs a listen -- only audio show in town now; Jeremy Frost with a HR; it's a fun atmosphere with an ultra-packed house for the Mavs tonight; Roxy Bernstein had a blast describing some between-inning hijinks between several players and Wooly Bully, with Nick Slack putting the final touches on the mascot with the Rock's "People Elbow" finisher -- fun stuff...

I would assume that Ben, being the class act that he seems to be, will just do his job and let the rest of us worry about the promotions...from what I can see from a distance, he doesn't seem the type to lobby the GM. Or, to look at it another way, he's sending a message with every one of those AAA starts....

Anyway, Melvin can hardly have failed to notice what he's doing...and I can't imagine that Wes Obermueller will have a lot more shots as the 5th starter in Milwaukee. The All-Star break is a natural time to make a move...

Final: Arizona Giants 6, Arizona Brewers 4

Arizona Brewers Box Score:

2004 8th round pick LHP Brandon Parillo (California high schooler) had more trouble fielding than pitching in his pro debut; RHP Tommy Hawk's outing was uneven, but it's great to see him on the mound after the elbow injury scare; another 2004 high school pick, 6th round OF Stephen Chapman, on base twice -- he's been solid this week after a rough week # 1; Iribarren and Gallardo combine for 0-for-9, why, that's impossible!
